Essex Companies

Unfortunately like a lot of guys on here didn’t realise the benefit of taking photos would bring. The resident “photo provider” for the forum seems to be Truckerash but if your really interested in Rd’s are you aware of 111 Squadron a book dedicated to the company by Simon Waspe which has hundreds of photo’s.Looking at the large Brains contingent in your collection Carna is it fair to say you worked for them.?

Sam oldies.

Salut, Oldtimer Trucker.

When I was 16 ( 1979) I served as Apprentice Diesel Mechanic with a Fitter called Dave Webb, on the fleet of trucks at that animal fat/ by-products place in Stapleford Abbots.
What a disgusting place, imagine changing shackle pins and bushes or a clutch on a truck that carries abbatoir waste!!
I cant remember the name of the company, but it was owned by a Jewish family.
I remember one day in the unloading bay, this old geezer that worked there, in an old pair of wellies and a boiler suit, was standing inside a horse pulling out the guts and he a pork pie in one hand, eating it, surrounded by animal waste.
Enough of that !!

It was about that time that we were running out of there. We had a very tidy fleet of tankers and pulled edible oils but Stapleford Abbots was a good back load. I cannot remember the name but it will come to me.

There was a tale about someone placing a dead Gorilla from London Zoo on the toilet with a newspaper :stuck_out_tongue: Could that have been you?

There was another place at Orsett too.

One of the drivers from W Goldings set up and runs SPB Transport although its his son Simon in charge now.
