When I first started on for Expo Freight,(Ray Philips),I had YHJ 10S which he’d just bought, don’t know where it came from.

Surrey Wharf was owned by Teddy Clouting (sp?) and based in Rotherhithe Street London SE16 until the mid eighties I think, he drove a Rolls Royce reg
50 TC

The OCL Felgate 112 was not Ernie Felgates for very long - in this livery his family business was co owned by Russell Davies who ousted him after a very short time. Ernie then became a TM for Brain Haulage (his wifes family business) before setting up again in his own right, with several of his own vehicles and some subbies like Bobby Little who had been one of his drivers
for years in his original firm.

chalkey:
P&O - ORSET

Trevor Starkes - subby for Orsett - wot a 141 this was swedish scania tag

I was on Frigoscandia out of Stratford Lift with Trev The Rev around about 84/85 and he had this 141 then…think this was before he subbed for Orsett depot…Trevor is still going he has a 3 series V8 and pulls boxes out of the Isle Of Grain as far as I know

Did Trev have the red and white 141 on RDs then or the white one ?

SShhhhhhhhhhhhh The boss will be on to me lol.At first I thought it was the white one but seeing the red/white and the reg it was def the 4 wheeler .Used to sound lovely when that came in the yard .

Not sure about that Chalkey…i know he bought it in Holland and ran it over here for a while on the original Dutch plates…if he got pulled over for having no rent in the window he used to pretend he couldnt speaka da english…i know its not right but not one subbie on Frigos had proper tax in the window   different days…i know he ended up on Solstor in London and built himself up to about 8 trucks mainly Iveco Turbostars and he was doing Russia and a lot of Eastern Bloc Work but he is now back down to one truck again…i often see him going the other way on the A2 but havent had a chance to speak to him for ages…out of the original 10 subbies on Frigos then i think me and him are the only ones still going

DICKIE CLEMENTS…
