ERF 'European' (1975)

I did withdraw your last input because of copyright, so be aware!

Robert has used one of my pics but it was not for financle gain, your pic or mine has not left trucknet forum so what is the problem we all friends on here so lets not be petty and argue lets share our memories and knowledge,ta,Pete

The 1976 RAI Amsterdam was inputted earlier by me, but I have been ‘warned’ and informed on copyright, that being
the reason I did withdraw my earlier input…nothing more nothing less…it’s running over eggs over here sometimes

@Robert: thank you very much for your direct and crisp opinion! You’re so right!

No problem! I do like to be right sometimes, and I accept that. And if you can prove me wrong, I’m quite happy to accept that too. Robert

Welldone robert ,you are a true gent

Cheers! I notice that a lot of material has been removed from the thread: this marks the true difference between the mentality of a ‘collector’ and a ‘contributor’. In my experience, harvesting from this forum is never as satisfying as contributing to it. The more you give to these threads, the more joy you derive from them (in my robust and and not-in-the-least humble opinion!). Robert

As i have said in other threads anyone can use my pics,if they bring enjoyment to someone i done a good thing,if i see them for sale at a stall or e bay the knob whats selling them is nothing but a ponce!!ta,Pete[keep us informed about book pls,as my mate is doing me head keep asking about it]

l only respect copyright or at least I state the ‘owner’ of the picture when known
in an era that ‘everything’ is grabbed and finally saved/copied from the web!

Glad Robert has time now to go over his book-content without time chasing him!

The latest edition of REVS has the “Reliable Recovery Services” NGC pulling a Transconti out of Dover docks.

Thanks for that. It’ll be something to look forward to when I pick up my UK mail in a few weeks’ time! Robert

‘Flourpower’ posted this advert on the Scrapbook Memories thread yesterday. It was Cossington Commercials who took ■■■■ Pountain’s 6x4 5MW and replaced the engine with a ■■■■■■■ 350 and replaced the 5MW cab with a 7MW cab. Just a detail. Robert

The Transconti has a TIR plate and a large roof rack. Just think, the NGC might have dragged him back from say, Turkey or Syria. Just getting your imagination going Robert haha.
The problem with that theory is the NGC is far too clean.

In this picture you can see the air vent you mentioned missing on some, has been blocked off.(maybe Harry would have stayed warmer if he had done this). And with the paint peeling from the wide angle mirror you can tell it was 1 more item sourced from the Pittem lorry.
Cheers, Colin.

Poor sod probably broke down on the ferry. Or as happened to me once at a busy time, the starter-motor went just as I was about to pull off the ticket booth in Calais. Great source of drama that one! I see what you mean about the vent. Robert

I received further communications from Mick Jones (Jona) today, and he sent me some more great pics! There are a couple pics of LHD B-series working in Dammam for Taseco, which I’ll post on my LHD B-series ERF thread in a couple of minutes. There are some NGC pics which I’ll post below.

But first off: here is a terrific picture of Mick’s high-roof ‘special’ E-series, which had been nipped up to 450 horses! Robert

These two Trans Arabia pics, taken by Mick Jones, show driver Micky Jillings. The first shows him by his cab (the kids weren’t his, apparently!). The second shows him piloting an improbably big boat across the desert! Great pics. Robert

Another Mick Jones photograph shows Trans Arabia driver ‘Yoyo’ at the wheel of an ERF NGC. It is the first picture I’ve seen showing an NGC with a black steering wheel (all the others appear to be grey) - just another detail. Thanks Mick for sharing these. Robert

This thread continues to generate good information - well done to all concerned.

Slightly off topic, but do any of you guys know where there is a 5MW cabbed ERF tractor unit, in any condition, in the UK or abroad, that could potentially be for sale? (not the ex Partrick one in Herts, with the best will in the world that one is past saving!).

A friend is searching very hard for one as his next project, so any leads appreciated!.
Please PM me.

hiya …

Nice pic there from MickJones, thanks for that Robert. I always liked the look of an E series, but with the raised roof, they looked real nice. Chris. :sunglasses:

You could try/contact Rene Postma (Leyland_Marathon2 on this thread) as he knows a lot of truck-merchants
and earlier purchased the KCH (now Corbishley, ex-Eyckmans Belgium) but I doubt if there are acceptable ones.

I guess one of the four HYDROCAR’s in Flawinne (B) (3-axled tar-sprayer) is still on the yard in Southern-Belgium?

You even try the Dutch VAN VLIET TRUCKS, KLEYN TRUCKS as well as CAB import-export in Weert, as they trade
and sell a lot of trucks to various export-countries. Good luck!

Interesting underside view of an ERF NGC. This one’s having a little lie-down somewhere in Saudi Arabia. Robert

I thought that improbably large boat would be too top heavy!

The centre-of-gravity would have been very high indeed, I would have thought. Driving it over any uneven ground must have been a bit hairy! Robert
