How can you tell it’s an NGC420, it looks like ANY ERF to me

No harm done perhaps, though I strongly advise you to go over your manuscript for your book in a thorough way!We separetely discussed also the discrepancies in the REVS-articles of Wobbe and some general assumptions, well
as you state it is an assumption, no harm is done and open for discussion and follow-up. Good luck with the revision
and hope to hear from you when the long expected book is coming!
Absolutely no assumptions. I stand by my original statements. Robert

Is that an A-series hinge or a B-series one? Robert

ERF-Continental:
We had discussions…eventually blocked…on indicators, mirrors and brackets and now we end (do we end) on hinges?Really pittyful the way this thread continues…and will end sooner or later without real input and leads, sorry!!!
So bring something meaningful to the table

I am convinced I did inputted a lot of new paths to go on…but apparently it is all judged…
Do not be afraid of the…
Thank you, that was the message to decide me to abandon…
I was lucky enough to locate this row of beautifully restored NGC 420s at a recent seaside rally. Robert

On a light-hearted note, here’s one for Harry. The picture of the tanker semi-trailer is of little consequence, but the tasteful grey Swiss-registered NGC 420 tractive unit parked next to it may be familiar to him! Robert0
Just got it!

Isn’t it marvellous when the penny drops! And in the case of that particular shed, the dropping penny may even be relevant! Robert
Delayed but not forgotten! There should be some news about the book at the beginning of next month, with any luck. Robert
I will be looking forward to reading your book Robert

Thanks mate. I have just this afternoon received the news that my publisher has been sold on to another publishing company. Because my book was still waiting in the wings to be processed, I will have to renegotiate with the new management - that is, if they will still consider the work for publication. So it’s back to square one. That is not as bleak as it sounds, because during the time that I’ve ‘lost’ I have acquired new knowledge and pictures, corrected some errors and refined the text considerably; furthermore, I’ll now have even more time to get things right. So in the end, it should be a far better book than the one I originally submitted. Let’s just hope the new gang loves ERF NGCs as much as we do! Robert

The new owners of the publishing company have personally contacted me already: a good omen perhaps! Robert

Just back from the UK and scanned a few of dad’s old pics that might be of interest.012
Colin, these photos are a fabulous addition to our treasury of ERF NGC pictures! With only about 70 of them built, approximately 40 years ago, it is becoming increasingly difficult to add new ‘evidence’ to the thread. You may have noticed other front-end pics of both these wagons posted earlier on the thread, but only one picture has appeared to exist hitherto, of the De Meulemeester of Pittem in Belgium vehicle. Thank you so much for taking the trouble to post these - bless you! Robert
PS Colin: here is the other picture of the Belgian unit from Pittem that has been floating around the forum. Quite clearly, it was taken in the same place at probably the same time, given the quality of light and the diesel tank in the background! So your dad almost certainly took both pictures. The frontal picture (reproduced below) appears to show a British trade plate on the radiator grille. Could it be that your dad drove this vehicle back to UK as an import? Did he drive it at all? There must be a little story here. This detail is important to those of us who are trying to account for every single one of the ERF NGCs built: we know that some were re-imported into the UK because at least two of them reappeared on Q-plates (a wrecker and Shamara’s converted 6x4 heavy-hauler). It is remotely possible that this unit was imported by Shamara and converted to double-drive. The link here is that your dad was probably a heavy haulage driver. Over to your detective skills Colin! Best wishes, Robert
