Think this may be a new pic.

Exquisite! Yes, a new picture indeed and a very fine one at that. This one of those pictures that make me want to get into the cab and drive it! Of course, the unit is familiar and we have other pictures of it, but this is a lovely photo of 34-UB-99. Thank you Dean for posting this. . This was the unit supplied to Vermeulen on the pre-registration plate N-03-66, then registered 34-UB-99 but re-registered in 1980 as 91-99-HB. Robert

Thats the strangest stack i have ever seen on a lorry. Wonder why they fitted it as thats not factory spec ? It said it was changed later, for a different one.

They seemed to like their stacks! I’ve just found a better version of Leo Mes’s picture of 87-69-RB online (below). It too had an interesting stack. I reckon they made their own! Robert

And just look what’s parked behind the FTF! Robert

Nice one ! Yes strange that photo would have had the stack they replaced it with on it !
Cant see one on the FTF ?

Found these on the net.

The ERF signs in France look to be of the E-series era, when ERF re-entered the European market, having abandoned it in the late '70s. Quite a few LHD E-series were sold in France. The lower pic of course is already familiar. Robert

GEH 513N. Robert

And today’s pic shows 12-97-FB on its pre-registration plate. Robert

In the world of big muscle, you needed little TKs to keep the wheels of transport industry turning! Robert

Well, there’s some truth to that, those TK’s were to be found on every corner it seemed. And how many are left nowadays… sad ending for a truly workhorse I reckon…

I’ve came across this pic Robert, the unit is familiar but I don’t know if you’ve seen this particular footage before…?

Cheers, Patrick

Yes, many many pages back. It’s the Pountains ERF MDC with a replacement cab (probably an 8MW) and RHD. Nonetheless, yours is a clearer picture of it. Cheers! Robert

The TK happened to be the “tackle wagon” the day we moved the boiler in the picture. When we arrived the 30ton boiler was on the ground.
So the 4 of us, John Simmons, his son Tim(standing on TK) Dave Wallace and his son(me) had a jack and many blocks of wood each. A corner each and we pumped away until the Tasker trailer could be backed underneath the boiler. Mobile cranes of the capacity needed were still very expensive to hire back then.
I never expected to be paid for something I enjoyed so much, so I felt rich when John gave me 20 quid for the job.

For those who know Leicester the picture was taken in Frank Berry’s scrapyard beneath Upperton Rd bridge.
Bet we were too knackered to give a thought to the hard graft that went into building that bridge.
Colin.

Great background info, Colin - you bring it all alive. Thank you! Robert

That is correct. It would have been handled by Best Imports who dealt with the ERFs in Holland. Robert

Evening all, Robert, I wonder just how many E serie were actually registered in France? Or for that matter the Serie Bas well. MABO sold into ex Mack clients in the main. Really a lost opportunity for Sandbach, I really do not think that the ERF management realised what a dynamic company they had stumbled upon as a partner!

DEANBs picture is down in the Dordogne, Badoures family business was run from Saint Cybraneten, Perigord Noir, close to Sarlat. Great service orientated operation, good chassis engineers, did a lot, (and I trust still do), of third axle conversions, plus roll on/offs, and dismantled for resale, as well as having a good used lorry business as well. They must have sold some with their background, and reputation.

Cheerio for now.

Not sure of the number of E-series registered in France, John but there were quite a few in the '80s. Most of them are on the LHD ERF E-series thread! Robert
