I know this is the wrong thread, but I’m not too bright and I’m on my phone and me minces ain’t as good as they used to be and I got dizzy trying to find a more suitable thread, but it’s an ERF and I think it deserves a spot on the forum, if somebody with more patience and better sight could put it on the correct thread that would be great.

Thank Newmercman: it is on the 4MW cabbed ERFs thread! Don’t forget to wash your germans and clean your hampsteads! Robert

PS - nice review of Lorries of Arabia: ERF NGC in the June edition of Truck & Driver magazine Robert
robert1952:
2We never did show conclusively that this lorry was operated by Comart (or even one of its subbies). The trailer is believed to be an MJL one - can anyone remember what MJL stood for? Perhaps the ERF was operated by MJL…
It seems MJL was an international French company based in Tourcoing with an office in London, that was eventually absorbed by Giraud in the '90s. But I can’t find any real history that might lead us to this NGC. It is possible that this unit was French, not English. Robert

The IVECO pulling a JML is registrated in Belgium, bear in mind that Tourcoing is only 5 miles from the French-Belgian border, so
at the end of the day the Comart also might have been registrated in Belgium

I notice no fancy ally wheels on the 7mw that says a lot. split rims for easy changing of tyers…don’t they look dated…wouldn’t mind her though.
John
MJL International (France) Ltd was founded in 1982, (director Mrs. Lesley O’Brien) and based in both Leeds and Tourcoing.
At a certain moment about 100 units/vehicles belonged to that fleet before it was absorbed in the Giraud-group in 1995.
Not yet a clue on the abbrevation MJL though…

Hiya…if that,s the right dates the MW would be getting long in the tooth maybe 7 years old in that photo. i notice some extra bolt heads across the bottom of the wing near the step, maybe that,s to fix some kind of ware and tear of drivers hoping in and out.
I agree with you 3300John that the NGC/7MW is not very young anymore

Well not only has this thread given me a new found respect and interest in ERF, it also got me to the optometrist, I think that’s a fancy name for an optician, the prices are certainly fancy anyway!
Apparently I should’ve been wearing specs for the last 20yrs, even though I was told I had 20/20 vision at my last eye exam a couple of years ago.
I left there with my wallet significantly lighter and I’m now awaiting delivery of two pairs of progressive lenses, one clear with a special anti glare coating for nightime use and indoor use and a dark pair to replace sunglasses.
I have seen the light…

Hallelujah! And by the way that road sign up ahead says Doncaster, not Damascus! Robert
Hiya was the book of much interest at the show Robert.■■?

Well, the bookshop had sold out of its copies by this morning. I had bacon butties and tea with the Corbisheys, who were there with KCH 95N and the old ERF now has its own dash-board copy of the book! Robert
Here are three pics I took of the old girl at Truckfest this weekend. The family took some more, which we may see more of later! Robert
Another Mick Jones pic posted on the Trans Arabia thead by Ronhawk. It’s possible that this is No. 126 as it carries an old TIR-plate. It also shows three types of ERF that were coming off the production line at the same time! Robert
With reference to that picture shown earlier of an NGC with a long wheel-base, possibly in the service of Falcon Freight in Jeddah; Lawrence Dunbar posted this classic example of how we Brits used to play fancy-free with ERF rigids and artics in the old days! Robert
Hey A-J! Look what Benkku has drawn for us! I’ll race you to the ferry!! Robert
Woehoe!!! With 335 chevaux …I guess you prefer the 7MW? Which tilt behind? EUROTEST? ERIC VICK?
A slightly different version of the same pic. Robert
