Dan Punchard:
I haven’t seen many b series with the smaller type rear window normaly found on the c series, the deep window was great for backing under a trailer.

They were sold as the ‘Super B-Series’ and were built to be as light as possible. The back panel of the cab was essentially that of the C-Series, with ERF cottoning-on to the fact that plastic is lighter than glass - so the size of the window was shrunk. I believe the RR265L and Gardner 8LXB-engined versions of this (what was essentially) cross-over tractor were capable of tareing-off at less than 5.6 tonnes.

This E.R.F. with the well-advertised museum semi-trailer was present at the Long Haul Club gathering on Sunday.
Inside is a fabulous collection of everything E.R.F. and the very clean EC 11 tractor unit is a showpiece too.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Well worked!

But it’s got that bl**dy awful 8-litre ■■■■■■■ in it!

Another ERF E series fair lorry . The show men really seem to like them . Tony

I seem to recall reading somewhere that ERF stopped using the eaton t/s and went onto an Eaton 16 speed synchro box at some stage,is that correct?

If so,roughly when did they change, and why?

Twin splitter wasn’t strong enough and I believe it was down to noise.

your quite about the noise they couldnt pass the Euro 3 regs the last twin splitter fitted was in a Seddon Atkinson Stratocruiser it belonged to an owner driver in Cornwall it’s a shame because they were brilliant gearbox I preferred them in a ERF because Seddon Atkinson and Foden used a cable change where as ERF used a normal gear linkage my last ERF I had was a EC12 with a Perkins/ Rolls and a twin splitter it was a cracking motor it would pull an house down then we had a new gaffer come who was a big Volvo man and they were the worse pieces of junk we ever ran he didn’t last long er then went on to run DAFs they were a big improvement over the Volvos but I still preferred my ERF happy days

Has any one got any brouchures or literature on the EC that they could put on here ? Tony

A firm I worked for had some “S” reg. EC’s fitted with the 16 speed ZF, but when I changed jobs I drove a “V” reg. EC fitted with a Twin- Splitter ,and did it make the ZF box seem like hard work.
They should never have stopped fitting the Twin-Splits IMO.
