ERF ec the last proper ERF

I haven’t seen many b series with the smaller type rear window normaly found on the c series, the deep window was great for backing under a trailer.

When I passed my class 1 at Sam Longsons I was given a ec10 celect with eaton twin splitter. When I got used to it the box was so easy to use, it was then replaced less than a year later with a new ecx. That was a cracking motor too, until it went dark, then the headlights were that poor I might as well as left them off.

Occasionally W & J Riding would be allocated a new vehicle on demonstration from the manufactures for fleet evaluation.
In this case it is ERF EC10 4x2 tractor unit Reg No K533 XVU which was registered new by ERF on the 1st of May 1993.
Pictured here at the Timax/Bainbridge plant at Glasson Dock near Lancaster in September 1993 it is coupled up to one of Riding’s contract livered forty foot curtain sider trailers.
The logo on the front of the tractor unit says ‘Driving the future’, ironic really, as within nine years of this picture being taken ERF lorry production at Sandbach would be no more than just a memory.

Another show mans ERF . Tony

F. & D. Buckle from Eamont Bridge , Penrith , have operated many E.R.Fs. throughout the years.
They were always kept very tidy , considering livestock haulage is not the cleanest of jobs.
This EC was photographed a few years ago ,in a field corner, just before being loaded with sheep.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

saw 3 go the opposite way to me on the A14 yesterday between jnc 1 and Kettering , all in the space of about 30 minutes. A ‘V’ an ‘R’ and a ‘Y’ ,each 1 a different company, still earning, still looking good.
i missed out on the EC only had a demo , all of mine were B’s,C’s and E’s with the odd A and an MW thrown in.
