ERF E series

NZ JAMIE:
Robert mate,I’m pretty sure E Series here had either nine speed or 15 speed Fuller’s.

There are still a few still working. For some great kiwi ERFs check out this page.

Brill Dan, no traffic on the M1 even though it was shut, not an hi viz in sight or a Hargreaves banksman lol at the Power station.

E14 with Fuller 9 ■■■■■■■ 320 Jake 4x2.jpg

Here’s a question for E-series afficianados. This beastie (D899 BRY) has been on the show circuit for a while now and I believe it has my favourite combination of 14-litre ■■■■■■■ (320 in this case) and 9-speed Fuller. It appears to have come from a sizeable fleet of ERF E14s in the service of Sam Longson. Were 9-speeders standard on their E14s, or was D899 a one-off? Robert

Cheers Dan: 400 bhp would make much more sense, as those Longson vehicles were pulling bulk tippers and bulk tankers all day long presumably at maximum weights. Robert

Well longsons were 320 as far as I remember but comments on flickr suggest that this lorry has a rear bogie dd from a foden tipper ? Can’t think why I believe it to be a 400 .

Is that red holdall one of those in the accessories catalogue in the late 70’s/early 80’s? I used to hanker after one of those as a kid!!

My old man just said he would steam up and down m1 at 80 mph in that white erf.
