Here we have A (left), B (right) and C (centre) series all in one picture. The A series was owned from new by I. H. Hyde from Walsall used on general haulage out of the James Bridge Copper Works, Walsall. It was taken into S. Jones of Aldridge fleet when I. H. ceased trading, around 1974, and was a very early A series, having the air-tanks mounted on the side of the chassis, a 205 ■■■■■■■ 10-speed fuller and no power-steering. Driven from new by David Thompson (The Preacher).

The B Series was owned from new by S. Jones, driven by Micky Farrell on continental tank haulage, although in this photo it is pulling a container having finished continental work in its second life as a general haulage vehicle, driven at the time by Tony Cope.

The C Series was also owned from new, driven by Stan Brimley on continental tank haulage, and was an E290.[/q  well lookin at your handle im asuming this is mr cook ,vince or jerry ,poacher here mate aka joe rounds ,how are you doing mate ,.

Kevin Fullard Transport

Kevin used his ERF on weekly Italian work, it had the 14 litre big cam ■■■■■■■■ it even had a jake brake!
We met Kevin at P&O Calais the shipped back in to Dover with him, we shipped in Dover dock to take this photo.
Kevin made most of the modifications himself, this old girl used to give the newer trucks a run for their money… oh and took some catching, I can tell ya!

Old memories here ! I went to school with Kev and we both worked at Thomas Ingles transport and BRS at Wolverhampton.
Kev left BRS to start on his own with an 8 wheeler B series on contract for C H Jones at Walsall hauling scrap and coal, he later got the X reg ERF unit new. A handy guy with the spanners Kev soon had the big cam putting out a lot more than 290 bhp, I haven’t seen him for a while but I believe he is now running a yellow Foden alpha artic.
Kev also knew a thing or two about Guy big j’s, sending some photo’s to the Guy motors museum !

stingray:
Hi everyone,
Has anyone got any info or history of my old wagons, ERF “B” series fitted with a 180 Gardner and 6spd DB box. ORM 126R she was origonly painted green with a yellow stripe prior to me painting her by hand! had a high sided alloy bulk body that had been previously fitted with a feed blower. I replaced the alloy body for a steel Charlon, and replaced the DB gearbox with a 9 speed fuller because she was unable to pull herself out of the sand pits in dorset. The DB box made her long in the leg, ideal for mororways but no good gor tips, quarries and site work! Do you like the vertical exhaust? that was fabricated using a 120 Gardner straight through silencer and a couple of lenghts of stainless heating flew pipe!

And later one that i purchased new from K.L. Commercials in Southampton. D385CTP a “E” Series with a 290 L10 ■■■■■■■ and twinsplitter box. i havnt a clue where she went after 1991. can anyone help me. I have saved some photos of them but would love to see any more of these registrations or any of my other trucks i operated between 1983 and 1991.
Thanks Ian Root (stingray)

ian i remember my dad driving that lovely erf e10 i wonder if its still running or sat rotting somewhere or probally been exported long by now we have pictures of her and the fodens you had when my dad wobbley worked for you

As i have just seen the pic of Dave Keyworths restored Robert Walkers motor, i thought that this fleet line up might be appropriate. And a few on their own, enjoy.

Just been to the Heathersgill Vintage Club rally and here are a pair of nice ERF’s for you
