ERF A, B & C series

ERF B WINCANTON

ERF A TIPPING TANK

few more jobs done on my C series, getting it finished slowly

and found an old Castle cement motor tucked away round the back at the ketton works a few months back

Glad you saved that C series Andy, alway’s looked the part when it was on the road. Noticed it had been for sale for a long while and hoped it would be saved from the torch!!! Is the 6LXCT still in good order? Chris.

A well-preserved E.R.F. B series 8 wheeler takes a break during the Fairground`s visit to Preston last month.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Here’s one for all the Rolls Royce naysayers (yes you Dennis  ). …

Had to move my old girl just before last Christmas to new storage. Not been started up since I parked her up at easter 2004…
Topped up the anti freeze, put a new pair of batteries on, barred the flywheel over and…
After two ‘clunks’ started up! Drove her 20 miles to her new home and it was like I’d never been away  proper chuffed.

nice looking unit
Is that Fine Fare livery?

Thanks for the compliment mate, and yes it is! Originally from their fleet too  not bad to say she’s been under a sheet for 9 and a half years!

A credit to you - but what a waste (under a sheet?) - get her out on the road, I would gladly give her a run now & again

Hopefully not much longer mate - house mods have priority on my time and cash for the time being :frowning: feeling more optimistic about getting it MOT’d now though after behaving itself at Christmas.

Incidentally, it’s no coincidence that my daughter was born in June 2004

She will just about be old enough now to help you wash & wax the Unit - Kind Regards (fellow ERF nut!!)

Rest assured mate, she’s being sized up for a boilersuit  !!

chris thanks  its getting there slowly, and youll be pleased to know that 6LXCT still purrs like a kitten , the chap i brought her off was orginally going to chop her up for the engine , but driving her back to his yard he decided it was far too good to chop up and put it up for sale

Did a dive into history and found attached pics!

Just seen a C series on Facebook with a Spicer 'box fitted. Can anyone tell us what wagons they were fitted to, the percentage vs the Fuller 'box and what they were like to use?
Only ERF’s I came across had a Fuller box installed. … seem to recall a truck magazine test with a Spicer/■■■■■■■ combo that they didn’t think much of.

There was’nt many spicer’s fitted, but it was an option on some B series chassis first, then same on the C series, think it was the Standard box on the C36 with Gardner 6LXCT, with 9 and 13 speed Fuller’s as options.
Chris.

I had a ex Rowntree c series ,c reg with a spicer box and Norde suspension ,spicer axle too as an Erf lover it was the worst Erf I’ve ever driven ,not a patch on the ■■■■■■■ eaton rockwell on springs .

Never drove ERF with spicer but had roadtrain and a constructor with spicer, not a very nice box sounded like a bucket of bolts being shook when truck ticking over

An acquaintance of mine had an L10 with Spicer box. I drove it a couple of times and, while it was “OK” it wasn’t a patch on the Fullers that I had been used to. I seem to recall that it’s regular driver didn’t think too much of it either!

I think it’s the Spicer which was an option all our C32 C36 and C40s all came with the Fuller fitted and all ours were Gardner powered
