How do I manually save a clip so it doesn’t get overwritten?
Also, it seems to stop recording whenever it feels like it?

In the playback menu the second item down is protect. To erase the file later you go back to the protect and unprotect it.
Is the motion detector on. As it will stop recording automatically if no movment for 10 secs.
