It was arromanches . He .s 86 now and coming to greece with me next year
at least the easterns work hard and contribute.
its the bloody afghans living off the dole in a 7 bedroom £1.2 million pound house in ealing you got to worry about. and the chinese dvd guys all organised crime. the somalis and pakistanis from southhall and all these other ponces.
i know you are still going to be sore about it if you are out of work. but the point i was trying to make earlier is that the economy is bad for us all. and if the polish blokes cant get the work then you REALLY have got to worry
And while we all kick each other the bankers and the politicians make millions

What difference does it make if they are english or not, if they are living here they are contributing exactly the same to the country through taxes etc. What you are saying is very borderline racist.
oh yeah and working for a lot less wages and driving longer hours in dangerous trucks. Thats what this country wants
Where I work, they get paid exactly the same as me, which is a decent wage thanks.
They drive the same trucks and work the same hours, I don’t see what point you are failing to make?
alamcculloch:
They come here in large numbers diluting the standards that we expect to have.
I hope that I am not racist but if they were filling vacancies there would not be a problem.
Eastie BEASTIES earn less but get various top ups from the tax payers the very same ones whose standards are being eroded.RULE BRITANNIA.
In a shocking moment of clarity, could it be that we want too much?

there are loads of uk drivers out of work but plenty of foreigners working which is obviously wrong. There should be a new law which says that if a uk driver comes looking for work at a company and there are johnny foreigners working there then they should get kicked out and the uk driver should get the work. This goverment needs to start looking after its own.
Plenty of rubbish on this thread, and yes some of it is borderline racism.
At the end of the day (Bubsy, V8 Passion etc) the British job market is completely free (as you know) and works on a supply and demand basis.
No point in crying that “foreigners” come over here and take “Britsh jobs” when they are clearly prepared to take work from firms that perhaps don’t pay top dollar wages, have shiny new trucks etc etc when perhaps British drivers have not done so in the past.
You seem to forget that all these “foreigners” came over here and got jobs when there was a driver shortage - it’s not their problem that the economy is in trouble and British drivers are being laid off, is it? I bet some of these “foreigners” have been laid off too but they don’t come crying on here saying what an injustice it is.
And you can’t blame British firms for employing cheaper foreighn labour in what is a very low margin industry, they do what they can to survive. There is still over capacity in the transport industry, so it’s the haulier who can keep his costs down who survives over another haulier who can’t…
And you can’t blame foreign drivers/hauliers for coming over here on their cheaper derv, if the situation was reversed we would o exactly the same. You can only blame the Govt for the high level of tax on derv.
I feel for a lot of drivers out there who have little or no work but it won’t get you anywhere blaming all and sundry for your problems.

well they have taken a job a British driver could have had, and also I was on about the foreign drivers that come over in their lorrys no the ones that work for uk companys
i would like to see a post or two on here from orys the polish guy. i don’t think from the sounds of it that he has had much work lately either. i would be interested on a view from the other side of the coin
Enough for me . Endaxi filos mou Kalinchta

and why should a British driver have that job over a person from another country who contributes exactly the same to society.

I do blame the goverment for this problem

erm well the britsh driver was born and bred here why should he not be able to work because some foreigner has it instead.
From what I’ve heard and read, it seems the UK will suffer most with this economic downturn, So the situation could be that British drivers will go to other EU countries for work or will many just stay here and complain they have no work.

Congratulations on spectacularly missing the entire point of what I am saying, there is little or no hope for people like yourself.
What other country would stand for all this ? The guy who moved to France is having to fork out 2000 euros to qualify for a job . Wake up . Back in a bit got throw molotov cocktails on the streets of athens!

I believe this country should look after its own which it is failing to do spectacually
i agree with you. this country should look after it’s own. blair and all his cronies loved to get the migrant workers in to do the jobs cheaper than us when it was a boom time. this was to help big business in this country a lot of whom who have benefitted are labour party donors. so if you have voted labour in the last ten years or so then stop complaining because you are partially to blame.

But you can’t just chuck all the migrant workers out because the economy has taken a nosedive. They only came here because the economy was buoyant a few years back and because no British workers wanted jobs like hotel cleaners, taxi drivers, or picking produce in a field etc.
Our society is partly to blame too - too many British people have turned their noses up at certain jobs in the past because they’re not good enough. Just think that all those people out there who haven’t worked for 5, 10, 20 years (because they’re idle, lazy and/or prefer to stay on benefits) could have been hotel cleaners or taxi drivers and if they had there would not have been the need to import so much migrant labour during the last 10 years or so.
Sorry, slightly got off the topic of truck drivers but I think there general principle applies
the country is in crisis no jobs, no work anywhere, yet in the last three days i have been to 4 different huge construction projects with steel, all goverment projects, all being operated and run by a french company and all foreign labour on site, what happened to local jobs for local people, i have friends all qualified tradesmen who are out of work that could be doing the jobs on these sites but chance have we got when the goverment is putting them in place and allowing this to happen, it comes down to one thing at the end of the day, money, the cheapest bid wins, first place to save money is on labour costs, the first rocket to the moon was bult by the lowest bidder not the most proffesional and skilled to do the job…

I agree with you there. But the goverment should of made the idle, lazy etc do these job or lose benefits but no they did nothing execpt flood the country with migrants instead.
