this man is dead on, in my area the taliban drive cars registered in eastern countries which i wonder whats the percentage that aint insured or tested legally, i know of a pole that was bragging that his mate sent him documents in the post, i also know of pole drivers that steal diesel out of there trucks for there private cars, i have said it before get them out of our trucks out of our houses and OUT OF OUR COUNTRY.
Off course, if they drive cars registered in Eastern Europe it’s obvious that the cars aren’t insured or tested. BTW: there is a more requirements to pass MOT in Poland than in Britain, did you knew that?
For instance: in Britain they just checking a headlights for you. In Poland if you have any lights installed on your car, they must operate. You have fog lights? It must operate. You have daylights? It must operate. Etc.
And last but not least I know there are at least two places in Glasgow where you are able to pay for passing your MOT when car is not good enaugh. Never needed to use (as I keep my car in good condition for my own safety, not for MOT) but I know people who did that (Polish and Scottish). And what that’s prove? Nothing.
There is many various reasons why the mate of this Pole sent him his documents by post. For example: you are buying car from me and I live in other departament. You have temporary documents issued until the departaments will not settle the case between them and then you have full registration certificate. You don’t have to pick it personally from the clerk, so you can send your mate to do it for you. And on temporary documents you are fully legal to drive in EC and to some countries beyond (we were on this documents in Serbia, Bulgaria and Turkey). And you can insure your car on it and everything. And that’s only one example of many. So I am not telling that they were fully legal, but you need something more to assume, that it was illegal. Sending documents by post it’s not enaugh. (Especially in this country )
I know British lorry drivers stealing diesel from the trucks. Two of them were sucked for that from one plave I was working for. And there were three Poles there and no one was doing that. And what that’s prove?

Dont let the truth get in the way of a good rant from the inbreds, Orys
tell me orys whats the requirements of LGV maintance for a polish haulier because some i see around dont look like they have been looked at or washed for several months.
tbh when times arew like this people born int his country should get a job over somebody who has just moved here from another country, eg if your coming from another country you should have a job here before you move here or you shouldnt be allowed
our immigration system is a pile of garbage.
im not bad mouthing the poles or anyone, the poles ive met and spoke with have been fine to deal with, though some folk on a building site in edinburgh wernt too keen ont hem when they were helping me unload my van, funny thing was the poles were helping me with the stuff these guys wanted, they soon shut up when i told them to shut it or ill take the whole lot back to the shop with me.
alsoo isnt our unemployment soo high because we have loads of immigrants here?

Off course, all british lorries are shiny and well maintentanded.
This ones which I am driving (or I am refusing to drive if they are not roadworthy) are always undercover polish lorries
Being serious: the requirements are in basics very similar, there are some diferences, apart of thing I already mentioned, like you can’t register RHD lorry in Poland.

No problem mate. It’s not a secret.
I am in full time university education at University of Glasgow where I am studying languages and Central and East Europenian Studies. During the teaching period I have my classes every day from Monday to Thursday, so I am available for work only in Fridays and Weekends.
I am sure that it will put the new light on our conversation
I can also add that I worked full time for over two years before I went to university, and altough I had no experience when came to Scotland and my language was much worse than today, and altough I never agreed to work for less than my British peers I had never any trouble to find a job (except a period when I was injured after car accident, caused by British car driver, who hit back of my stationary vehicle when I was stopped for red light on the junction).
Any more questions about my working experience and circumstances?

Obviously you are not. So you should be happy that it’s not wasted
And, again: you should not worry about that. I am not allowed in British Universities for free. Scotish goverments agency cals SAAS pays my tutition fees, as they decided that I can bring something into Scotland. All EC citizens all welcomed in Scotland at the same rules. There is no such opportunity in England and it’s not affect British budget.
I don’t believe for one minute that a Polish MOT is harsher than ours (if they have one)
All the Polish cars I see are falling to bits and all the BMW’s they drive must have faulty exhausts, as they make a hell of a racket.
For your information Orys, ALL lights on UK vehicles have to work, including number plate lights. The only exception is if you have front mounted fog lights, these are not part of the test. They also have to be fitted with a rear fog light, even if the vehicle is imported (like my Hilux Surf from Japan) from a country that doesn’t require them.
guys i know your all p`d about the poles and other immagrants taking jobs we can do and such but dont take it out on orys, hes alright. im just as annoyed as you are about the job situation right now but there is nout we can do about it,
the scottish education system is different fromt he english, i know i studied at an english uni and had to pay for it yet i could have done it up here for free, its not his fault though that the immmigration system in this country is screwed up, if the big man brown got his act together and sorted it out then you know things would be better
I dont think anyone, on these forums or elswhere is saying that illegal activity is to be condoned. If a driver whether, Polish, British, West African or Martian commits an offence then the full weight of the law should be used against them.
The Government is planning to give police new powers to issue on-the-spot fines to foreign drivers caught committing traffic offences.
This quote highlights the archaic rules that we still have in the UK. Any driver who works abroad will be used to the system, a driver who cannot provide a current home address in that country will have to pay a fine or bond at the roadside.
I am pleased that we are in the EU, this allows me to go and work in any EU country of my choice without excessive bureaucracy. I also like the fact that people can move around the community to marry, go shopping and follow their sport.
In all these 17 or 18 pages, no one seems to complain that their favourite football team has just signed someone called Allajeh Joof or Pitchou N’Ganga. Is it because the English are just crap at playing sport? or is it because they were cheaper?
The NHS rely on the rest of the world for supplying it with staff. I have been treated with respect by a Cuban doctor treating me daily in a free hospital for almost 6 months. This hospital was not funded by the NHS either.
I like to read the stories from Orys as he shows a great sense of humour and understanding of our country, but as this thread started as a total zenophobic post again anyone distinctly Eastern European or who doesn’t hail from Norfolk or East Anglia. I would hate so see it degenerate into a personalised attack or witchhunt against one man who is obviously very proud of his own country, his adopted country & proud of the fact he is educated, proud of the fact that he is also earning a small living with a part time job.

I don’t think anyone is taking it out on Orys. Like I said, I don’t blame the Polish, I blame the Government.
We do live in a free country (allegedly) and people are allowed to express an opinion. If that opinion is they don’t want any Polish living here then that’s their opinion. Other people might not agree with that opinion, but everyone should have a right to an opinion however distasteful. As long as it doesn’t degenerate into a personal/racist vendetta I don’t see what the problem is.
I know some Polish guys and they are great lads. Orys can hold his own, good on him I say.
I think it’s like when you go to the airport and are kept hanging around for a delayed flight. Tempers start to fray at whoever works for the company you are flying out with, even though it’s not their fault.

I agree entirely with your sentiments. It is about time the British people woke up and realised where the blame rests. In actuality, blaming the politicains lets the voters who put them there in the first place off the hook. Those who will not force change through the ballot box will reap what they have sown unfortunately.

It’s very well then, that polish MOT’s existence is not depends of your faith in it.
All the Polish cars I see are falling to bits and all the BMW’s they drive must have faulty exhausts, as they make a hell of a racket.
It’s interesting what you are talking here, as I was living in Poland for many years, and MOST of Polish cars I seen were in good condition (altough, on average, older then British ones). But mayube you were looking at polish scrap yard for them?
Off course, I don’t try to tell, that ALL Polish cars are up to the MOT standards. It can’t be true in any country.
For your information Orys, ALL lights on UK vehicles have to work, including number plate lights. The only exception is if you have front mounted fog lights, these are not part of the test. That’s why I was wrong then. I had my fog lights not working when I was heading for MOT and I was advised to not to worry (but finally I managed to fix them anyway). But it’s still an example where Polish MOT is more strict. As for rear fog light we have exactly the same rule in Poland.
I seen that year ago and it was strongly discussed at one polish forum and here. Please note, that myth about polish crazy drivers is used only in preface to article about rising costs of translation. I fully agree that translation fees for people who don’t speak english should be paid by this people, not by local council, as long as they are guilty. As well as you need an interpreter in Poland you have to pay for it from your own pocket.

That’s how it’s solved in Poland. And if he’s not able to pay, he will be arrested.

It’s nice to hear. I trying to understand this country, as I am living here and (whatever you want me or not) feel as a part of community here, so I think is my duty to know as much as possible.
