The Ruttle’s Mack was on a TRUCK test against that 1632, unfortunately it had severe engine problems and I believe the test had to be aborted,I re-read it earier this year but cant be bothered digging it out of the loft to see what exactly the problem was.
the set back axle model was macks attempt to entice european buyers to buy macks.

Billy Hamm,(from Bolton, with a false leg),drove that Mack for Chapman and Ball, from Stoke, in the mid '70’s until I went out to Belgrade to recover it when he had an accident,(allegedly).I have related this tale a couple of times on other threads.
I remember that Bob Cartwright here in Southampton had a Mack at one time I seem to remember he bought it off Unit Commercials the one time Scania dealer in Salisbury it had bright green paintwork.
Been through a shoebox of UK registered yanks and found a shot of B511 PFX a Mack interstater with a set back front axle .its green and got a bulker on the back.I believe it belonged to company called Jearide of Poole.Sorry I cant put the pic on here cos its not mine. This all ties in with whats been said.
In answer to LesPauls question, the “B” reg on the Jearide Mack suggests 1984 but I think the photo was taken in 1986…ok…Hrer are a few of my pics.
