Electric lunchbox

As a dayman…if I take hot food to work,I use a soup flask.

Don’t they call the hot food by another name … Coffee perhaps?

I don’t start till dinner.
I tek wata.

Decide to buy one and upto now it’s ok…warms up readymade meals good… granted it takes Hours. But leave it in all day by dinnertime got a warm meal…
Going make some over weekend n freeze them to take with me.
As dont do many nights out anymoreand is good have a warm meal.for dinner… instead of home made sandwiches or a Gregg’s sausage rolls

Hmmmm ‘warming up’ chicken :open_mouth: sounds a bit iffy  …is it warm or really hot as in a microwave?
Sounds like a recipe for a couple of days of ‘Ghandi’s reenge’ :imp:

Never had chicken soup then have you … Warmed up chicken .
:unamused:

Never had chicken that has not been cooked or warmed up PROPERLY then have you…
Badly warmed up chicken = Salmonella. :unamused:
Give it a try if you don’t believe me…let me know how you get on.

much as I can see these working ok, it’s just much easier to bung it in your microwave. I have a mains one running off inverter. Park up, chuck food in leave doing for 5 mins while engine turbo etc are idling to run down whilst completing days paperwork. Sorted.

Agreed, no brainer…, no hassle.

Yup so easy, no hassle, except all the faffing round fitting it and the fact it costs several times more. That’s if you drive same truck all the time…everything has its place, including these. Badly heated chicken will make you just as ill in microwave as heated lunchbox, microwaves don’t have an exactly spotless reputation for making people ill!

I used to use the twin gas ring, but found the microwave easier…mosty because I’m lazy, so converted to a 24v microwave which lasted for about 15 yrs amazingly.

I then bought a large inverter cheap second hand,.off a very nice bloke off here.in fact
The specific sized microwave that fit in the small Actros cupboard off Gumtree, which was still boxed brand new as it turned out.
Shock of the year was my firm paid the bill to fit it :open_mouth: , but that was in case I got some amateur (or worse, myself  )to wire it in) so it was quite a cheap option as it turned out.

As for heating chicken etc,.I always make doubly sure, if it’s a curry or casserole I’ll take it out, stir it up, and check it a few times before eating.
So far no problem, I’ve used one since about 2002 and still alive.

Ah so you’re careful reheating chicken in a microwave but not a heated lunchbox, I got ya

Try and keep up Luke, …never used one.
I’m just going by what Mr Bracewell said, ‘just a warmer’ and ‘takes ages for dense food’
Going by that description I thought a microwave would be more efficient, and less chance of getting something dodgy, .that 's all.

He’s not the brightest crayon in the box Robroy… Everyone else knew exactly what you meant. I accept the (im)practicality issues with microwaves if you are cab-hopping, however even a single burner camping stove and small pan would still be infinitely better than the electric lunchbox. Heck, even wrapping the food in tinfoil and sitting it in front of the night heater vent for 5 mins on full chat would do a better job!

Apologies, I assumed you were talking from a position of actual experience.

Sorry, and you are? (You’ll have to excuse me I’m a bit dense.)
