I was told at a DSA seminar that from 10th September that examiners were to comment on Eco safe driving box (28 on the DL25), and give test candidates a leaflet if they thought neccessary. I spoke to one of my examiners last week and he knew nothing about it! Indeed the new DSA DVD makes reference to it.
The examiner I spoke to about it said ‘do you mean telling them to get on with it’, which I found slightly worrying. It will be interesting to see how it pans out anyway, because as things stand a present if a candidate does drive in the SAFED way, i’m sure he would fail his test, particularly on gears as the two methods of driving don’t seem to be compatible.
Eco safe driving is part of the car test, but candidates will not be marked down for non compliance, as Mart points out they will be given a leaflet and some advice from the DE. Just another load of tosh from the DSA who seem to blunder from one embarassment to another.

I can do the SAFED free of charge,is it worth having, will it give you an advantage with prospective employers?
If you can do it for free do it. However safed is being eased out as far as I can tell. The small companies ain’t intererested and there is more money to pay safed as the subsidy is either now scrapped or will be.
