Can any of our learned brethren offer a definitive explanation why some (but not all) of the early B series had separate surrounds fitted to the headlamps?
I know they were dropped after a short while as they were prone to drooping/breaking/vibrating, but there doesn’t seem to be a clear pattern of age/reg number/model that they were fitted to?

Thanks for the input chaps; as I say the fitment (to me at least) doesn’t seem to strictly correlate to a chronological/build date/reg number order, but any clarification is welcome
