DVLA medical unit reference number

Has anyone contacted the DVLA medical unit recently, and if so we’re you sent a long reference number along with a message to say your request is being processed?

Our lot are insisting I should be emailed or texted one within a couple of days for the M1V form which was emailed 12 days ago. Posted duplicate printed form end of the week.

Can’t find anything about it on their web pages including the “what happens next”, so suspect its out of date information and our office are being dumb. Unless DVLA are slow again.

I’m assuming that you’re adding a medical condition to your current licence and not renewing a licence and reporting a medical condition at the same time, if that’s the case then as far as I can see you don’t need a reference number you just need to wait for a reply from the DVLA

As far as I can see as long as a doctor has not told you it’s not safe to drive you can continue driving while your request is being processed.

My advice would be to phone the DVLA medical enquiries to check that the M1V form has been received and is being processed.

I wouldn’t give them a hard time over it though, I’ve heard the DVLA medical division are not people you want to upset

Thank you - yeah it’s just adding low level anxiety to it as the office insists I have to tell DVLA despite the GP disagreeing. Think they are getting mixed up with the process involved. Just wanted to be sure. Oh and will be nice to them. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Trev,
I’ve found this just now and it says that if it doesn’t affect your driving then there’s no need to tell the dvla and if you’re not sure then ask your GP.

Seeing as your GP doesn’t think it’s necessary then I’d be thinking very hard about the risk of the dvsa revoking your license unnecessarily as
I’m sure we’ve all seen stories about how hard it is to get your license back from this position.
I’d really fight against the office over this because after all,if it is revoked they are surely going to let you go and you’ll be left without a job.
If they won’t see sense then I’d seriously consider finding somewhere else to work whilst you still have your license.
I wonder what others think?
All the best Trev.
