I passed my cat C test 2 weeks ago (5/4/13), examiner took my licence and sent it off. I rang the DVLA today to see if my new licence had been issued, only to be told that due to my provisional being issued by the medical dept, that the licence had been passed back to them for them to re-issue.
Has anyone else had this before? I’m just a bit dubious that I’m going to be subject to another medical review, before they issue it, and a little bit annoyed that the interviews I’ve arranged for next week will have to be cancelled, because I need the licence to show at interview.

Yes. Because I told them I needed corrective lenses for my vision, I have a 6-8 week turnaround for every licence renewal.
Oh and ROG… Have you ver tried ringing the Medical Dept? Didn’t think so…!
Very few operators will put you through to the Medical Dept.

I just use the medical option on the automated service and never have any probs

I have, I just dont see why they’re doing it. They had my car licence for the best part of 3 months for a medical review in 2010. They then took over a year to issue my provisional Cat C, issued me with a short licence (3 years) and now they’re reviewing it again! And I guess I can expect it again when I manage to pass C+E.
And why is it, when you speak to the medical dept, they never give you a straight answer? Or let you know what is happening, it wouldn’t be that hard to issue a letter explaining what the delay is.
