Hiya all, I wonder if any of you lads have any pictures of jays of Dunstable from the mid 70s.
I drove an ERF a series on bricks, and blocks, and sometimes the powder tanker.
Also freeman group transport in Leighton buzzard, running out of Electrolux, with a scania 80.
Tim.
Hi
I drove for Freeman group from 1976 to 1981, and had the first of the three new scania lb81 with longer chassis and sleeper cab LGS282V. I left to start a fitted Kitchen and bedroom furniture business at around Easter of 1981 and I think Robert (David) Freeman, the old man, lost the Electrolux contract about a year later, and soon went to the wall. It was good clean journey work, always home empty, even from Paisley, then ■■■■■■■■■■■■ Pay wasn’t bad if you got the mileages in, but short jobs were job and finish, so home by 1 or 2 in the afternoon. I used to live in Tring, so about 25 mins away from Heath Road,. Can still remember quite a few names from the firm. They gave me my first job after I passed my test. 4 days at Freddy Rays driving school and a test on the Friday.
