I live in Dubai and have a Renault Premium 340 tractor unit (1999 model yr)and a Montracon trailer (2003 model yr) converted by Hopkins motorsport into a race car transporter. The problem i have is the brakes on the trailer stick on when the foot brake and park brake are used. Does anyone know of a trust worthy place where is can get it looked at or what the hell is wrong with it! I have used several different tractor units on it and they always have the same problem. PLEASE HELP as it is dangerous as the brakes are also slow to apply (roughly 4-5 seconds) and if…no when i need to pull up in a hurry - it wont!!.
Sounds to me like it needs new shoes.
Is there much water in the air tanks?
How much is it worth for me to come to you with some shoes, bits and bobs, and a bag of tools?
I’v e seen this problem posted elsewhere recently… can’t just remember where, but i recall the answers you got were clear, informative, simply put & detailed.
I think sand on S cam actuator rods was mentioned for one thing?
But i guess now you’re looking for somebody to look at it.

I think it was posted on the same day D1UK.
I had nowt better to do and we ended up chatting about racing cars
I wasn’t sure which section to air my question so i put it in 2 different ones! sorry for the confusion. I have some things to try now and have (finally) got a response from Montracon who have kindly supplied a schematic diagram of the air system on the trailer. One of the local ‘experts’ i had look at the trailer thought there was a problem with the “very complicated ABS system” that is fitted?? I dont know…but i will look into what i can, after that anyone fancy a working holiday!!!
Thanks for your help guys… appreciated

Does the diagram resemble mine in any way, probably not. I was making it very simple to understand.
Good luck with it anyway.
The diagrams are of 2 different things…theirs is of what connects to what - air tanks, actuators, distribution valves etc. Yours is more generic with the exploded view of the drum. Both are needed so I can understand how the system works - once i can get my head around the system i can feed someone suggestions…also helps prevent me getting ripped off again if they start to ■■■■■■■■ me!! Knowledge is POWER!!
gsf I’d love a copy of that air distibution diagram if you ever have time to send it me.
Problem solved…the sticky brakes turned out to be a kink in the yelow line behind the front bulkhead. Now the brakes are sooo F*&"!@G sharp each time i prod the anchors i nutt the windscreen!! Thanks for your suggestions and help…much appreciated.
p.s Driveroneuk…I cant really send you a copy of the diagram as it was released to me on the understanding I wouldn’t distribute it…sorry. (Just email Montracon and request it…they sent it to me so dont see why they wouldn’t do the same for you?)
