Is it legal to drop a trailer on the road? i.e stand it on the road independent of a unit, unlit.
I’m referring to an industrial area where it would be perfectly legal to park a car for example.
Are there any restrictions

You will be ok until someone runs into it. That is about it.
I suppose you could ask if there are any restrictions, it may be a private industrial estate, but they can be worse than council maintained. You could park a car without light, but anything over 1525kg should be lit. Skips have to be lit too.
Its an interesting point you make about “until someone runs into it” because that’s my concern. If that happens, then as always, the driver who dropped it will be the one who carries the can, even if he’s told to do it as part of his job.
Is there any legal document or website you can point me at re: the 1525 kg lit requirement.
Thanks
