Driving without card Infringment

Did an agency job not long ago,put the card in,did manual entry, did checks ,when complete, started to drive, didnt even get out of yard when I noticed D2 driving without card…thought it was odd, stopped, ejected card, replaced it,even remember doing an entry for the time it was out.
Now the agent has had this sent in for me to explain, and I hope its just me jumping the gun,but its giving me the impression that im gonna get reported for it…is that what happens

Nothing to worry about, you don’t get reported for it.

First question are you sure you had your card in the correct slot…?

Just out of interest why would a D2 come up if a card was inserted in the correct slot ? with only date showing, isn’t a time relevant to this event ? and to all the pro’s out there, does this mean the agency is gonna grass up the OP / dock it from his pay…

I know the infringement will show on the tacho card for 28 days should the OP get tugged by DVSA… But Im sure Ive read something about it recorded on the vehicles tacho unit for 6 months, meaning that should the vehicle be stopped by the DVSA with a bit of investigation the penalty for an infringement can be issued to the named driver

As I have never had this problem, you can see why Im having a ‘bit of a flap’ over it .I dont know why this happened ,as the card was in,this is due to the customers going of the info on the cards,to avoid them trying to short change on the bill…Dont thinkThe agency gonna grass me up,the impression im seeing is the customer or the FTA analyst thingy…as you can see folks this is a new one to me

With my job there’s a fair bit of driving without a card. A lot of venues don’t have a designated loading dock or area do you end up parking somewhere then maybe having to roll forward or back a few feet.

In a truck on paper tacho it doesn’t even register as we do it as slowly as possible.

The DVSA do seem to realise that in the rock n roll game there is always going to be a bit of minor shunting, and I try to keep it at the slowest speed and shortest distance possible just so it looks understandable. If I was driving at full pelt for 15 minutes without a card I’d expect a fine, but reversing 35 feet at 2mph is perfectly acceptable in my eyes.

The driving without card is nothing and happens quite regular, the card insertion while driving infringement is a bit more serious but I can’t see why anyone would report it, I’ve no idea why it would happen unless the tachograph was faulty, but if the tachograph wasn’t reading the card you wouldn’t be able to do a manual entry so that rules that out.

Does the time you put the card in and did a manual entry (the first time) show correctly on your cards records, you can tell by doing a printout for that day.

oops…Never thought to do a printout ,like I said when I noticed,I popped out card, then put it back in couldent have gone more than an artic. and a half lengh

So you ejected the card whilst the vehicle was moving ? naughty naughty, should have pulled up and stoppped and really whilst its not a requirement, I’d personally do a print off at the end off the shift for my own records and record any issues on the reverse… its good to refer back to should you get tugged or notifcation like you have…
