Driving van and hgv on same day

I need to know the regs on driving a non tacho veh on the same day as driving tacho veh

  1. does my card remain in the tacho vehicle and set to other work.
  2. if so how do I record my 30 min wtd break
  3. What if some one moves my tacho veh whilst im on van
  4. do I have to record driving time on van if I return to tacho veh later.

I also need to know if a company with one tacho veh needs the services of a cpc management holder.

Any help would be great

At our place we have to carry old style analogue tacho charts, and if we do any non tacho driving, record the lot on that, combining it with any digi driving we do (all our wagons are digis)

If we’re just on wagons, we leave the discs blank

If there’s any chance the the lorry will be moved you should not leave your driver card in the tachograph, take it out and take it with you.

As the van has no tachograph I assume it’s too small to be in-scope of EU regulations in which case the driving is classed as other work for the EU rules.

It’s a bit difficult to say how you should record the van work without knowing if you get back in the lorry or not, if you do use the lorry after driving the van you should record the van work as other work by doing a manual entry into the digital tachograph when you reinsert the driver card, you will manually record your break at the same time.
