Driving in portugal

I’m collecting a hire car from Faro Airport this weekend for a holiday.

Having driven L.H.D. before, in Greece etc. the vehicle and the driving is no problem.
What concerns me is that Portugal has one of the worst accident records in Europe.
Any information would be welcome.

Cheers,

Niall.

It does have the worst safety record in Europe, It is to do with the fact that hire cars are so easy to get, so cheap and there are so many numpty English drivers, who cant drive properly here.

Add the fact that there a 4 20 stone people in a nova, driving in the sun with no sense of direction and drinking Porto Branco.

I went last year and hired a motorbike, now thats scary

Be careful

just keep betwen the ditches niall.the roads are bad,no worse than in some other countries.you"l be ok in a car,i did it plenty in a truck, that is a pain, but its a beautiful country, and the people are great.happy holidays.

Thanks Malc - I’ll look out for the fatties in the Nova.

Thanks Greg - if it can be done in a truck with 'eyes in the back of your head ’
I should be O.K.

Cheers,

Niall.
