So if your ‘pay week’ runs Monday to Sunday is the following legal

Monday 0500- 1800 13hrs duty time
Tuesday 0500 - 2000 15hrs duty time
Wednesday 0500- 2000 15hrs duty time
Thursday 0500 - 2000 15hrs duty time
Friday 0500 - 1800 13hrs duty time
Saturday 0500- 1800 13hrs duty time
Sunday 1800 - 0700 13 hours duty time
Monday 1800 - 0700 13 hours duty time
Tuesday 1800 - 0900 15 hours duty time
Wednesday 1800 - 0900 15 hours duty time
Thursday 1800 - 0900 15 hours duty time
Friday 1800 - 0700 13 hours duty time
Saturday off
Sunday off
Monday off

Just curious

Of course it’s not legal, you’ve done 12 ys without a weekly rest period :open_mouth:

You pay week doesn’t come into it, 144 hours from your last weekly rest period you should start a new one

Sat 18.00 to Sun 18.00 Is a reducer so it’s legal.

and hes only doing 6 shifts in each 144 hour period so yes

it might be legal but would be a killer as you are changing from running days to night runner with only a 24 hour break. i don’t thing my body clock could take that

Lee G:
you, my man, need to brush up on your drivers hours. you cant work 7 shifts. as soon as you have started a new shift that is the start of a new 24 hour period (working day) so you can only do 6…

It is you who needs to brush up on the rules. You can do as many shifts as you like as long as you start your next weekly rest period no later than 144 hours after the last one finished. This has been confirmed on here by geebee45 who is a VOSA Traffic Examiner, and if anyone should know it is him.

By your (incorrect) interpretation then in the extreme case if you worked 1h, took 11h off, worked 1h, took 11h off, etc. you would end up needing a weekly rest period every 3 days which is clearly nonsense.

A more realistic example might be if you did 4 or 5h on a Sunday afternoon to get you near your Monday morning drop, then worked 5 full days Mon-Fri and then ran in Saturday morning. This is 7 shifts and is perfectly legal as long as you finish on Saturday no more than 144h after the time you started the previous Sunday. By your rules it isn’t legal but if you want to be weekended because you don’t understand the rules then that is your call, I would be heading home on Saturday morning.

Lee G:
nope

I’ll explain in the morning.

Right i’m awake now, this happened to me last year, done my 5 shifts then as Christmas was coming done an extra shift so then that made it 6 on the bounce, anyway that 6th shift went Pete Tong and i nighted out but started after 9 hrs off and ran in from Hatfield to Bristol and finished my 7th shift on the bounce about 142 hours after starting my first.
Thats why i quoted somewhere that legally you could fit in 8 shifts or even more as long as they were short and you observed all the other regs.

My head hurts lol

It’s all simple really.

Until people complicate it unnecessarily.

Coffffeeeeeeee!!!

It’s been done to death many times on here and the majority know how VOSA view it and as such know the right answer. The minority, who are wrong, include Lee G. :stuck_out_tongue:

^^^^ this

i stand corrected, but I’m still sticking to my 6 shifts a week (until i need a 7th to get me home)

Glad you’ve seen the errors of your ways, but sometimes these rules are to your advantage so best to know them.

That is exactly the reason i like them as they are, they are very flexible, the more you try to simplify them the easier they are to snap :stuck_out_tongue:
