Hi guys, quick question although I’m sure I’m ok
My licence is due to expire on 15th February
Only posted renewal (by special delivery) on Friday. I was assured by post office it will reach DVLA by Monday morning.
Am I right in thinking as long as it reaches them before expiring date I can keep driving?
Late posting was due to failing original medical because of high blood pressure (210/112) but now under control.
Duncan.
I may be wrong mate but I think you need to be in possession of a licence.
I had this argument 5 years ago with my lot,.I thought I was covered as it was going through the process at DVLA, but they would not let me work…or rather they offered me alternative ‘yard duties’, no chance of that so me and the Mrs booked 10 days in Cyprus, by the time we got back it was there for me.
So as far as I know you ain’t covered once licence has expired, until you get your new one, but obviously covered until date of expiry of your current one.
Not entirely sure of the facts…, just blagging it in fact ,.but I’m sure a better informed member than me will be along shortly.
I believe that under section 88 of the Road Traffic act you can drive when the DVLA have received your application, there are certain conditions such as nothing has changed since your last licence ec’t.
