Got a small operation in the morning Friday(late cancellation) and im due back in Friday night. Is it ok to drive? Seen online saying not recommended due to insurance purposes and being too soon after it. Anyone done similar?
Depends on what the operation is.
I had one to remove swollen gland on neck under local and was fine a few hours later.
Drove there and back from it

Because we’ve moved to a sue culture so all advice is don’t then you can’t claim off anyone !
I’m sure OP can make his own decision after his operation and see how he feels

Depends what is taking place. I understood locals meant 12-24 hours off driving/operating heavy equipment but some anesthetics are more full on with higher doses than others and depending on how long the procedure takes etc.
Some dental anesthetic can be different and lets you drive sooner.
If they give you painkillers for afterwards like Co-Codamol etc, keep a copy of the prescription on you when you return to driving - You will fail a drug test but the prescription is usually your get out of jail card as long as your employer is aware.
Seek the advice…
Of the person that is sawing your leg off/removing the polyp/lancing the boil/performing the vasectomy/lazering yer eyeball or what ever it is you’re having done.
If they say don’t drive for 8/12/24 hours…don’t drive for 8/12/24 hours.

Yep I phoned the secretary just now and she is going to get back to me with answers from surgeon when hes available. I dont mind a few days off in this weather .
I had to have a tooth removed last year under local anaesthetic/sedation and on the paper work I had to read sign it stated do not drive for 48 hours after . I didn’t work the night on the day I had the tooth taken out as it was done at 12 midday and was due in to work at 6pm So had that night of as didn’t feel great for a few hours after I came round but felt perfectly fine to drive the next night

Best way.
Advice will be specific to your case. NHS website is pretty good too, lots of useful info, but in thus case "doctor knows best:.

Whats the world coming to, few year back i had a chunck of something nasty cut out of my arm with 20 odd stitches holding if together afterwards, was back at work on the afternoon pulling curtains back in a gale force wind, come to think of it i was bloody stupid and should of stayed off for the rest of the day, but what do i know , i think the OP should take a week off just to be on the safe side :
Really.
Just take the Friday off, if anything was to go wrong, you will be in a world of do do,. Also say something goes wrong with the procedure, FFS your well-being is more important than that load…
Take day off
