I did a 35 hour dcpc last week after taking a break from driving for a while. In the drivers hours module it showed a 4.5 hour drive then poa then 4.5 hours driving ,this looked wrong to me as i thought it should have shown a 45 min break ?
Yep you are right.
Thanks bb i thought so .
45 minutes POA will wrongly reset the driving time on a digital tachograph display, but only break or rest can legally reset your driving time.

POA can never legally reset your driving time, on a multi-manned journey when you’re sat in the passenger seat with your card in slot 2 the first 45 minutes of POA is counted as break not POA, that’s the only reason it legally resets your driving time.

I could be wrong but I think in some other EU countries that is ok - was it an English made bit of info that was shown?
Yes it was an english version although i was in wales LOL .it just looked wrong to me as an old hand returning and only ever used drive other work and rest symbols on a tacho.

That’s what I said if his card is in slot 1 then put into slot 2 it records Poa which would be counted as break… which is what may have been mentioned on the CPC course he’s on about
I suppose there is always the possibility the ‘trainer’ was trying to explain how the digital tacho will reset driving time even though it was a POA that was recorded.
There again this could be another example of a DCPC trainer/company that hasn’t got a clue.
I always find this difficult to explain but it does need to be explained as many drivers think that because the driving period has reset on the tacho - the POA counted as a break.
