After thinking that I wouldn’t be doing this go around again because of age I thought I would let it lapse along with my vocational licence and that would be the end of it. But the guy I temp for would like to keep me on and I have realised I would rather have my qualification than not. I don’t as yet have any problem with my yearly medical. For the last 4 years or so I have worked for own account firms so have been a bit out of the loop but the last time in 2019 it was classroom based and I planned to go back to them but they don’t do CPC anymore. After doing some research there seems to be an awful lot of online courses with various prices. The bricks and mortar firms surely can’t compete.
So my question is - is this the way to go about it these days? And what’s it like doing it via zoom - I have to do the full 35 - comments please - my card expires early September.
For your own mental wellbeing, don’t attempt to do it in quick succession, spread it over a good length of time. You pays your money, download zoom and then on the course days don’t fall asleep, chirp up now and again and Bobs your uncle you are then professionally competent.
IMO Online courses suck, I would far rather be in a room with people, but it depends on you: can you sit in front of a screen all day for multiple days? Bear in mind if you wander away from the camera you’ll probably find yourself kicked off the course.
There are other benefits to a classroom course over online, but I won’t post them publically
I found online ok if honest.
But all depends who’s doing the course. I did my 5 over a couple of months all with enterprise saw same instructor twice rest were with somebody else. One instructor was a bit yeah basically read everything on screen word for word.
You Do couple hours 15 mins break couple hours half hour for dinner couple hours another break couple hours then done.
With enterprise don’t know about others you can split the course over 2 evenings which I did a few times is better.
If remember right did like hour half 15 mins break another half or so and was done. Or something like that. Either way had a break in-between.
.
Not as bad as I thought
But I was using a pc with a monitor imagine on a laptop tablets etc would be a pain to see what’s going on etc
His card expires early September he said, it’ll be 09.09.24 just like most of us. The test option won’t be coming in that soon, if the DVSA guy I was talking to recently was up to date with the info. They’ll wait until after 09.09.24 as they’ll be busier than normal until then.
I don’t mind the online courses so far. Have paid £40 per day and done 2 so far with 1 booked in July. I’m not in a rush with 2 years left to do the remaining days, but will probably do them all online for ease.
My firm pays for them and uses Driver hire for the online courses
I’ve done 2 so far and got one this Saturday
Both the course leaders were pros and had been in the transport industry as either drivers or company boses in their time so knew what they were teaching
A bit different to a mate of mine who did a course with Driver Hire, he’s a TM as well as a driver and knows his stuff. The trainer muted him for most of the course because he kept challenging them that what they were saying was wrong.
Its a brand but its also a franchise so there’s no knowing who or what you will get.
Are no “TN originals” availing themselves of Switchy’s online offerings?
Bit late but here’s me. 95% of mine are online. Do a deal of 35 for £199.99 which is 7 hours for under £40. Yes there are cheaper but imo you get what you pay for. DISCOUNTED ONLINE BLOCK BOOKING | www.lorry-driver.com
