I think I’ve got this correct…
Card valid for 5 years - photo valid for 10 years
I’m not sure if the photo expiry date is also the same expiry date as the one on the driving licence as it is the same photo
I’m sure someone with greater knowledge will be along soon to correct me if I am wrong
just checked my driver card and it is valid for 5 yrs not sure about the photo tbh

On the driving licence there is an expiry date for the photo - is there a similar photo expiry date on the digicard?

The digi card is valid for 5 years although when you renew they’ll use the photo they have on record for your licence, providing it’s valid, so there’s no actual photo expiry date.

Hi mrpj, that seems right to me too mate.
I’ve just checked both sides of my digi-card and I can’t see a photo expiry date.
I’d scan my digi-card and post it on here, but it’s a family show and the photo would probably frighten small children.
I must admit that I hadn’t previously noticed the lack of a photo expiry date on my digi-card.
As they are using the photo from the current driving licence at time of issue, renewal or replacement and that has an expiry date, then, by default, the digicard would be a maximum of 15 years old.

This basically happened to me. I applied for the digi in Dec 09 and it came through valid until Dec 2014 (5 years). However the photo used was from 2000, which meant I needed to renew my licence virtually straight after although the digi has the old photo on which will be 14 years old at the card’s renewal date.
