drivers/cabs

Let us know if the truck went up in flames when you switched in the ignition while all the alcohol vapours where in the cab and crevices

I use the Dettol spray (it kills viruses, including coronavirus) and wipe everything I shall touch, including the seat belt, tacho, radio, etc. My routine takes 9-10 minutes, and makes me feel better. I use hand santiser throughout my shifts too, and if I need to scratch my face Iā€™ve got a fork for that :sunglasses:

Other drivers have refused to drive my truck for years, not even a deep clean is enough to get rid of the bodily fluid explosions Iā€™ve had in here.

Even did the double once (climaxed and sharted).

In fact all my previous vehicles to my knowledge have been burnt.

In general though when using other vehicles alcohol wipes and squirters and as mentioned seat belts critical can harbour lots of nasties imho.

It would have to be a fairly ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  deep-clean to address the air vent/air con system in most trucks Iā€™d imagine, that even one of those Halfords bizarre items you leave spraying itself around the cab with the engine ticking over, would adequately deal with, in any true sense. :open_mouth:

The same people with such ā€œanxietiesā€ might be the same crowd that ā€œwould turn down a good looking woman, in case sheā€™s been around a bitā€ā€¦

Either you can get in touch with Johnny, or go without.

Leave Risk taking to the Risk takersā€¦

As truckers we have the risk of ā€œDouble Manningā€ or ā€œTramping in someone elseā€™s tramp vehicleā€ or even ā€œhandballing stuff to/from people youā€™ve never metā€.

Gotta accept some risks in this job - or at least be prepared to move over, and let someone else have yours insteadā€¦ :bulb:

Duly admonished old boy,but I do recall one of your memorable posts,a long, long time ago with allusions to faecal/spermatazoic ramifications of stewarding various trucks as a seasoned agency man as your good self, has to endure.Wish I could find it,it was hilarious.

One of the firms I drive for gets a valet to clean and disinfect the cab after every shift due to covid 19.

Did a bit of overnighting in other drivers trucks with my last employer when the service intervals changed from Friday to Thursday, thus removing the option of a late Friday finish, drop off to Mercedes and head for home situation. The state of some of the units was appalling, tobacco stench, grime and grime that was just polished over and deep-set into the surfaces.I lost a lot of kip during one summer I recall due to the overpowering ā– ā– ā– ā–  bouquet, mustā€™ve been a 40 a day man.
If I joined a new firm I donā€™t think itā€™s a big ask to get them to spend a 100 quid for a deep-valet for the 3 month probation period even if they hold back a tenner a week of wages,(duly reimbursed at the probation periods conclusion). If this current cv19 situation doesnā€™t focus attention on these matters, nothing will.

Iā€™m lucky in that no one else has been in ā€œmyā€ truck since this all started . Used to have one man in it at the weekends but now with 4 trucks parked up and 5 driverd furloughed the weekend men are using them instead . On the flip side we are now responsible for making sure the trucks are washed , fuelled , ad blued , fifth wheen plate greased before we go home - that dosenā€™t bother me as I did that anyway it just puts an extra couple of hours on the last day .
