Driver Nickname

I see so many Truck Drivers with licence plates in the windscreen with what I assume to be a nickname…
Whi gives you guys the nickname?

As regards the nicknames, presumably you only put one up there if it isn’t derogatory, but I am sure there are exceptions.

Could be a nickname you’ve had all your life or family/friends have given it to you, work colleagues etc.

Mine is “Cake”… For obvious reasons if anyone ever sees me in person :unamused:

If you’re feeling envious and are thinking of getting yourself a nickname and vanity plate for your window, probably best not to, DVSA have a bit of a beef with it.

And, as stated in another thread, complainers are more apt to remember it was “Big Dave” from XYZ Transport who upset them on the road, and are far less likely to remember it was NJ65APZ

Apologies if that 2016 Black 2 litre Diesel VW belongs to anyone on these boards, I just plucked it at random from the air

wherever you go you’ll get a new nick-name…no need to choose one yourself  back when i was on quarry tippers, and we all had cb’s so everyone had nick-names/handles…one newbie lad followed another driver everywhere,he got called ‘Rent Boy’ and had that as a number plate on his grill  his boss wasn’t impressed :astonished: another was the legendary ‘Salad Dodger’ (R.I.P.),who was a large lad who had his photo in the local paper complete with his name plate!

I bet a good number of name plates refer to self chosen CB handles from those days.

yep…my dad called himself ‘split-pin’…but no one knows why

I’m convinced that the drivers give themselves their own nickname most of the time
