If you’re driving in-scope of EU regulations and working in the workshop on the same day then legally you must record the workshop work as other work, assuming you won’t have a vehicle at your disposal all the time I’d do a manual entry when you get in the vehicle, don’t forget to record any breaks you have in the workshop or you may fall foul of the working time “break” rules.
You need to keep a record of all the work you do but on any day that you do not drive a HGV you can keep a record of the days workshop work on printouts or charts.
Hope this helps
