Driver escapes from burning lorry

Picture by Matt Watson shows the four vehicles affected by the blaze
A lorry driver had a lucky escape when his cab was targeted in a suspected arson attack in North Yorkshire.

The man is thought to have been sleeping in one of two lorries which caught fire at the Dragon Road lorry park in Harrogate.

Four fire crews were called to put out the fire. The nearby main road and York to Harrogate railway line were closed while it was brought under control.

The driver was not injured. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The fire also damaged a third lorry and a coach.

Just a thought but how many drivers who sleep overnight (or day) in their cabs have fitted a smoke alarm to the ceiling?
They are only a few quid from Tescos etc, can be screwed / stuck / nailed to the ceiling of the cab, are easily portable so can be chucked in your bag and carried from truck to truck, oh and one more thing…WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE!!!
