Driver CPC preferred?

Hi Folks
How is it that some advertised driving jobs criteria state that ‘driver cpc is preferred’? I thought it was mandatory that you are in possession of a cpc card and that you’re not permitted to drive professionally without it?

Lost me as to why because its a legal requirement

I imagine it means, “don’t apply for the job and expect the company to pay for your CPC if it’s close to expiry”.

It quite simply means they would prefer people with a current driver CPC, or people willing to pay for it themselves ongoing.

Any decent employer should cover this cost as you need it to be able to do your job, usually on the job training is provided and or paid for by the company you work for.

…as long as they’re only paying for the ongoing training, one day per year. No employer I know is going to pay for a driver to do what they ought to have done before looking for work.

Some adverts also state “experience preferred”, then when you progress further you find it’s “experience essential”.

Ah OK, all that makes sense, many thanks for your replies.
