Driver Card Online Renewals

Ive posted this on an old thread but feel it might get better coverage on a new one!!

I got my renewal forms through about three weeks ago and filed it over Christmas. Shortly after I drenched it with coffee but didnt worry too much as I was sure it said I could renew online for £20

Roll on today…I cannot find any reference to online renewals anywhere on DVLA website!!

I accept when this thread was running a year ago that online renewals were not possible, but I am positive that my letter said it was possible.

Can anybody help or advise me if i’m going mad?!?!

If it is to replace your driving license because it expired, you cannot do it online as far as I know, because you have to send updated photo. I think you can order a replacement driving licence online if you have lost it or it is damaged, as long as it is still within date/

Thanks Jim, but this thread is about ‘Driver Cards’, not ‘Driving Licences’.
My card is ready for its 5 year renewal and Im sure the info in the letter indicated an online renewal was possible however I can find no online reference to support this.

I can’t find an online way of doing it, maybe as the form has to be signed. but I’ve got this link to a form which you could print off.

You can renew over the phone with a credit or debit card, as long as the details on your renewal form are the same.

I phoned on Monday morning and the card arrived on the Friday, the call took about 5 minutes.

Yeah, think thats what i’ll do tomorrow.
Another Q though…If the photo on the driving licence used for the driver card expires within the 5 year range of the new driver card does that mean they will expire early??

No, the photo on the driver card will automatically be changed the next time you renew the driver card.

I had different photo’s on my licence and driver card for some months, it wasn’t a problem and was perfectly legal.

The photo for the driver card is always the one that’s on the licence at the time of card renewal.

I renewed mine over the phone back in September. Dead easy, paid by debit card and the new card arrived about three days later.

Absolutely correct.

I asked the question on TN in December as mine expired on Jan 9th, and was pointed in the direction of doing it on the phone.

Now bearing in mind the crimbo holidays, I made the enquiry, the ■■■■■■■ the other end was extremely helpful, she took some details, and voila, the card arrived within 10 days to my door.

I have now, both needed renewing in October. I could renew the driver card with the old photo but needed a new pic for the licence.Thats the way it will stay now as I can retire before I need to do any renewals.

I need a new card as I’ve just changed address, can’t find any details of a phoneline on DVLA or VOSA so if you guys still have the number to call could you post or pm it to me. Cheers

You need to download this form http://www.dft.gov.uk/dvla/forms/~/media/pdf/forms/D777B.ashx fill it out and send it off to change your address. If you haven’t already changed the address on your licence you will need to send that with the FULLY FILLED OUT PAPER COPY along with the form. You don’t send your digi card, they will give you a pre-addressed envelope with your new card.

I made the mistake recently of not filling out the paper copy of my licence, the instructions only say to enclose it not fill it out and they sent my licence and paper copy to my old address, and sent a new digi card with my old address on it to my new address :unamused: .

I had to send it all off again with everything filled out properly.
