Driver card / Digicard .....Is there a difference?

Hi all

Had a look if this has already been asked but couldnt fine anything

Might sound a silly question but if you dont ask youll never know :smiley:

Is a Digi card the same thing as a Driver card? I applied for a digi card about 2 weeks ago, and im under the impression that you collect it when notified :confused: But i got a Driver card come through the post with the chip on it and an arrow. I might have just answered my own question but would like to be sure .

You have received a Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
The only reason you may have to collect it is if you changed your address or photograph, then you would have to go to a VOSA station or local licensing office to exchange it.

If the card you have now becomes faulty, they will send you another through the post, but you must return the damaged / faulty card with the application form. If it is a renewal in 5 years it will be sent through the post to the address on your driving licence.

The other card you will need to obtain is the DQC or Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC) That all depends whether you are a new driver or still have until 2014 to complete your 35 hours training.

You got what you applied for. There are 4 different types of digital tacho card, one of which is a Driver Card.

Yes im a newly qualified driver and have my module 4 on the 27th of this month, do i then recieve the cpc card that “WHEELNUT” mentioned previously? I know i then have to complete 35hrs of cpc training within 5 yrs.

An initial DCPC module 4 pass will get a DQC issued and that will have a 5 year expiry date on it
EXAMPLE - pass mod 4 on 10/10/11 - DQC expiry date = 09/10/16

The 35 hours of periodic dcpc will need to be completed by 09/10/2016 in the above example
