Drainage Tankers?

Hi
I have started working on a small drainage rigid tanker.
I have been told no tacho is required as we are classed as emergency service.
We can also work upto 15hrs.
Is there still a need for breaks?
I can’t find anything on this.

Does anyone have any advice?

I don’t know if the job is exempt from EU regulations, but if it is then you’re also exempt from the RT(WT)R, so no breaks are legally needed.

Now what I don’t understand is this, if as you say the job is exempt from EU regulations where does this 15 hours come from

If you don’t mind me asking, what exactly are you doing with the drainage tanker ?
The reason I ask is because unless you’re doing something to do with flood defences or emergency sewage drainage, I don’t see why it’s classed as an emergency service job, I’m not saying it’s not just that I don’t understand why it is.

Yes we do emergency floods and ssewage drainage.
I have been told we have to have 9 hrs rest between shifts. Hence 15hrs.
We have signed an exempt for for the wtd.

Does anyone have any advice on any regs I need to apply?

That would be UK domestic regs

No required breaks or rest periods

Limited to 11 hours duty time in any 24 hours - not to be confused with shift time or paid time
Duty time does not include breaks

Limited to 10 hours driving time in any 24 hours - that is time behind the wheel not just when vehicle is moving

Comes under normal WTD which can be fully opted out of
