Chas:
I’m astonished that you actually managed to post this question here 'cos using the same amount of skills you could easily research her background from publicly available info on the web.
Perhaps if you got her name right, it’s Hilary Devey, & she kick started a company called Pall-Ex.
Unusually for a female member of the Dragons, she wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her gob nor does she hide in front of an excellant chief exec who does all the work.
Whether or not she belongs on prime time TV is a debatable matter, Personally I think she lacks the physical good looks & charisma of even an average TV presenter & I believe she’s only there to feed some false sense she has of her own importance.
Geez…I think someones jealous!
Perhaps he fancies her .
I don’t fancy her but I’d happily ‘hire’ myself out to her for a few months if she gave me £80k
switchlogic:
Am I correct in thinking it was her and Pall-Ex that kicked off the pallet distribution networks as we know them now? I.e lots of smaller independent companies working together.
you are correct
Not quite 2 pallets networks started before Pallex and Hilary worked for one of those, so she didnt exactly come up the idea of them.
I like her! She’s down to earth and tells it how it is without any BS. I love how she said to that chick with the oven glove idea "s’not gunna mek ye a lotta profit, love " in a proper common accent. (43:02 on iplayer).
And she gave that bloke with the Marouche(sp?) Experience both barrels as well. (26:00)
“Well how ridiculous of you to come and stand here and pitch to investors when you haven’t got that information. By God man, it’s your job to have that information. […] Forget the Marouche Experience, we’re on Planet Earth in Dragon’s Den. You would make my foot itch, mate. [bloke stood there laughing at her] I’m not amused, I’m angry, and I’m out”.
She’s brilliant, best dragon yet. Can’t wait for next weeks ep.
Subsequently went into administration. I seem to remember that they were claiming a ridiculously high profit margin - would have loved to see what Devey would have made out of that pitch.

They were on a hiding to nothing, one sentence in your link says it all.
The original £100,000 the Dragons invested came in handy for taxing the vehicles and to maintain the cashflow and to invest in a further 6 lorries.
They had borrowed the money for road tax
Interesting business plan, they had. Their experience was in hanging garments, 17 years a piece, so they went out and bought 6 lorries in 2007 and put them on Corus Steel and general haulage as a subcontractor. within a year they had six more and before two years was up, it had gone bump.
Hilary would ave told em. “You pairs aint got the brains tha woz born with”
Deborah Meaden would invest in frog curry as long as it was green
i worked for dts many years ago think as i was leaving they were bein bought out by clipper but i know nothing about them
as for that new draggon i think she is great
I found a rather cruel review on Hilary Devey. It made me smile but is quite cruel
On Twitter ex-News of the World TV critic Ian Hyland said, somewhat harshly: “One word to describe Hilary Devey: Frank. Her manner and also, I suspect, her real name.”
What can you expect from an EX NOW employee.
I like Hilary Too. I liked the Business Inspector and the time she argued with that haulage bloke in London who was losing money hand over fist

She’s needs to get her arse on here in the OD forum. They’d soon wind their fat necks in about me giving them all a hard time then!
Rob K:
Personally I feel that the above comments on her physical appearance are a bit out of order… Maybe it’s just me.
Not just you (zb I’m agreeing with Rob) A very successful person from the haulage industry joins Dragons Den and the main topic of conversation is her looks
