the route we are told to take is reims,le mans, tours, poitiers then pick up the national road to chateroux (sorry for the spelling) then down to toulouse narbonne then barcelona
no idea how much the tolls cost as we have a tag but my boss is known for being tight fisted so i would assume thats the cheapest, quickest way.
Riems … Le Mans is some dogleg. Surely Rouen … LE Mans is better

Rouen, Evreux, Dreux, Chartres, Millau Viaduct would be my choice.

This is the route I’d take if not pulling to much weight, it’s around €185 and 1300kms according to www.autoroutes.fr

have heard the N10 is now 80 kmh and patrolled alot quicker to stay on Auto route down to bordeaux then toulouse
as for parking, i’m pretty sure that i just read in one of the truck mags that there was a brand new secure truck park down near the port in barcelona. think its all purpose built, so guess good parking, food, showers, shop, food etc. wish i could remember where i saw the article.
quick google came up with www.restaurantarea2.es/
if your gonna be unit only for the weekend, and don’t mind abit of a drive, you could run up the coast abit to lloret or similar, if you fancy it? i know a decent stop for trucks, just on the edge of lloret.
is reims, dijon, lyon not a viable route down aswell?

Via Paris and Lyon about 40km shorter but more expensive on tolls and Lyon is a PITA. Boring drive as well. Via Rheims prob as far if not further.
ta, i did wonder if it was tolls.

Going the route I said earlier, you pay a bit of toll from Abbeville to Rouen, then a tiny bit more at Chartres, just a couple of junctions, and you pay to cross the Millau Viaduct (it was 16 euros, prob 20 now) but other than that it’s toll free until you get down to Beziers.
It’s a much better drive too, roads are quieter, scenery is fantastic. It can be a little slow climbing the Massif Central if you are heavy but I would still only ever go that way at 40 tonnes.
Thanks for all the replies
i will work my way through them all during the week and will post the pictures after the trip
It might help someone else who is a rookie ( i used to live in Germany but that was 25 years ago lol)
cheers

paris, toulouse, barcelona, Millau Viaduct route is ok if your not pulling much weight
there is a place to park right next to the old Olympic stadium, you can walk into town from there
Parking wise, a bit further down the coast you have Cambrils and Salou. Excellent buffet at Cambrils, Salou you can park in the coach park however it is a bit pricey.
from st malo down to bordeuax and toulouse you can make jury on the 1st night just dont stop anywhere near the border lol
allow time for the france/spain border check point, took 3 hours when i went through a few weeks ago
I’m going to get to Dover about 1800 -
once in Calais i’ll still have time to run - can any one recommend a secure parking area say 4 hours down the road
cheers
Steve
