Good morning, This is a quick question if anyone has the answer, I’am aware of all the rules regarding being double manned such as 30 hour daily rest window, breaks and such. However I believe I read this a while ago.
If you are expected to complete a 21 hour double manned day or exceed the 15 hours, what notice do you have to be given by your employer? Or can they tell you when you get into work that you will now be doing over 15 hours?
So in short, do I have to be given notice in advance such as 24 hours, to then complete a double manned day over 15 hours?
Thank You
Legally there is no requirement that I know of.
There may be something in your own contract of employment, but in transport they often say summat along the lines of being available for any legal hours requested.
Thanks for the info, it’s not something our company does nor has it ever been discussed beforehand, it’s only ever when there is an issue on the road and we go above the 15 hours double manned. So happens about once a year I would say. It has been mentioned before that we are never expected to go above 15 hours even if doubled manned but when it comes to being caught in traffic they apparently bend the rules and allow it.
