George Neville fitted then into O type Bedfords, and road tested them up the twisty lane from Starkholmes to Riber loaded! ERF did fit them in those underfloor engined things as well, and Vulcan and Thorneycroft used them. The little Aveling-Barford calf dozer had Dorman single potters, my pal had a single cylinder Dorman engine that once powered a saw in Middleton Mine which he exhibited at vintage rallies.
Pete.

Sold on many years ago Dan, it was Nigel Wilde’s dad who owned it.

I think you’re going to get a nasty shock when you start them up NOISY doesn’t quite describe them adequately.

A noisy V8- just what your collection needs, Dan.
So it was the m series then, I had a v12 Perkins in a couple yrs ago that was seriously noisy .
ERF did fit them to the M series, Banks’s brewery had one and sold it to a farmer at Church Eaton he said it only had two problems, hard to start and when it started it wouldn’t pull your granny off the pi$$ pot!

Seem to remember posting photo(s) of Dorman powered lorries way back on Past and Present and for Punchy Dan, Dormans are still alive today in Lincoln, see here. dormandiesels.com/history.
Oily
I remember seeing a Ford D series with one in sometime in early 70s.
IIRC the first Atkinson in 1933 was fitted with a Dorman diesel engine.

As a matter of interest, where did you buy these from Dan?
Our firm removed a very similar pair from a sub station near Waterlooville a couple of weeks ago.
