I have two vehicles working under domestic rules. One being mechanical broom (18 tonne) and gully cleaning (18 tonne). Both drivers signed 48 hours opt out clause. My question is can the vehicles be driven for 8 hrs 7 days per week? That is 56 hours week and would it be still legal under the domestic rules in case of VOSA paying the visit?
56 hours would be on duty time really as both vehicles stop frequently during 8 hours as per work scope they working under.
To the best of my understanding it goes like this with Domestic Rules:
Max shift - 11 hours
Max driving - 10 hours
30 minute break after 6 hours max on duty
That’s what they drum into us on Refuse at a Local Authority.

That’s it without the other break bit because there are no compulsory required breaks on domestic or under the normal WTD
Those limits are within any 24 hours and can be done 7 days a week every week
