Doing European Work

Mazzer2:
Waberer’s is an option

Is it really though? You really sure they will employ a brit who can’t understand a word his coworkers speak?

But with Waberer you see the whole of Europe and TIR countries , with reference to the language barrier between work colleagues , it shouldn’t be a problem , a lot of arm and hand waving will get the point across .
I worked for Lindner in Austria and had a Hungarian traffic planner who would text me the reload address and ferry booking references , all the drivers were Hungarian who spoke a bit of English , there were a few Brits there too .

Waberer will have the latest technology for traffic planning in the drivers cab for load and reloading information and ferry bookings without the need to contact head office or planners .
I’m sure they send data in English if they hired a Brit to drive for them , but will need a tax number in Hungary .

It used to be, I think this was changed in about 2013 I remember talking to a Pole around then who was about to lose his job due to this change as he would become to expensive. Around this time was you saw a lot more flagging out of Dutch lorries which gets round paying Dutch wages. I gave an example of two Dutch firms that use UK drivers but as I said they are in the main through an agency based in the UK

So, a Dutch company has labour supplied by a UK company?
Watch this space…!

I hope no-one looses out.

That would be “Optimum European“ an employment agency based in Milton Keynes.
They supply British drivers to 2 Dutch company’s pulling fridges, mostly night work multi drop and the only time you get off tends to be whilst you’re on a ferry.

As I wondered before, how will they do after Dec 31st?
Rhetorical question of course, as no-one actually knows, but many will have opinions as to what could/should/might happen.

Language would hardly be an issue as fair percentage of their drivers don’t speak Hungarian, there used to be an English guy driving for them young fella used them to travel around Europe.

Certainly, there’s plenty of Romanians, Ukrainians and what have you, the common thread being they don’t speak any English. Neither do the forklift drivers or the tyremen, probably many from dispatch. I’d go for a Swedish forwarder in case of speaking English and wanting a job driving the continent.

.
UK and French companies use out-based drivers. Maybe not huge numbers, but any Brexit, deal or no-deal, may have effects on this. And I doubt it will be to make things easier.

It’s interesting - in a kind of way - that we are discussing anyone with UK cards working for transport from other European countries but based in the UK.
Then there are the UK drivers living in other European countries - with UK cards - and working for UK Companies
Then the UK drivers living in other European countries with foreign cards
Then UK drivers working in France - with French cards - but living in the UK
And in a no-deal scenario - Nobody has qualifications that are valid - What a cluster up .
