a short crossing i did enjoy delivering to palermo and trapani .
And here’s mine on it last month, crossing to Sicily, before driving down to Pozzalo for the ferry to Malta.

last time I was on the Messina straight I spent the crossing staring at the arse of a very large bull!
Does anyone know if that very badly translated ’ INSERT ENGINE BRAKING HERE’ sign is still at the top of that large hill in Sicily? Used to make me chuckle every time.

How long does this crossing take. Anybody know how much it costs, each way for a 5 axle artic? There may be a trip to Sicily on the horizon, just looking at different cost options at the moment.

It’s a good few years since I’ve been on that ferry, but IIRC the crossing time is 20 - 30 mins.
As for the price… Google is your friend. 
I went to Sicily last year on the ferry from Livorno. That took a day!
