Dodgy experience this morning

why  what is it

It’s used in the manufacture of chemical weapons. Manufacture and movement of it is highly controlled.

now thats a good answer.

Why is Phosphorus Trichloride of any interest to criminals?

Is that a genuine question? If so, try going off route with it and you will how the old bill respond to it

seeing as how he asked you why not enlighten him and of why you get scared of passing cars on the motorway :unamused:

I wish I was as good a driver/person as you are.

dont see where i’m claiming to be a good driver or person :unamused:

Just the impression I am getting from all of your replies…might just be the way I am reading them though, anyway, have you not seen some of the sights going past in cars these days?! Getting a wink from a big hairy guy dressed up in womens clothing could scare the most hardened of people

I just wanted to know what it was, so thanks! That might perhaps explain why he’s wary of the Irish or maybe people who look like Muslims  . (That was not entirely serious). Must have some other use though.

just looked it up,it`s used in pesticides and herbicides

Has a few other uses, says them on its ‘wiki’ page, we transport for use in making plasticisers!

Phosphorus trichloride is a chemical compound of phosphorus and chlorine, having chemical formula PCl3. It has a trigonal pyramidal shape. It is the most important of the three phosphorus chlorides. It is an important industrial chemical, being used for the manufacture of organophosphorus compounds for a wide variety of applications.

PCl3 is toxic, with a concentration of 600 ppm being lethal in just a few minutes.[8] PCl3 is classified as very toxic and corrosive under EU Directive 67/548/EEC, and the risk phrases R14, R26/28, R35 and R48/20 are obligatory.

PHOSPHOROUS TRICHLORIDE is an important raw material for many of the Organophosphorous pesticides, Dye intermediates and Fire retardant Plasticizers.

Shamelessly stolen from another forum, but along the lines of this thread…

Word of warning!!!

I was on the M4 Westbound on the way home from SCC Performance in St Albans on Wednesday (30th Nov, Revo Stage 1! ), I was aware of a silver Volvo S40 on a 58 plate that appeared to be following me for sometime. It matched my lane changes and overtakes and sat behind at the same distance the whole time. Naturally I thought it might be the rozzers, so took it carefully. After nearly half an hour I got suspicious so overtook a few cars then dropped to lane 1, slowing right down to force him to pass. He had a real good long look at me, as did I at him. It didn’t look like a copper, no uniform, dodgy looking geezer etc. So I overtook again and hoped to carry on my way having made it clear I had clocked him.

Again he stuck with me, matching my every move. This continued for a few more minutes before approaching an exit, he started flashing his headlights and indicating me to pull off the motorway. I carried on, he flashed again and then turned on some blue and red “wig-wag style” strobes which were mounted on his dashboard. I ■■■■ myself for a moment, but it just didn’t look right. Also there was no siren, no blues mounted behind grille, no “wig-wag” flashing headlights etc, so I didn’t stop and passed the exit.
The flashing and blues stopped and he sat behind me again matching my movements like before. I was already pretty sure it wasn’t a copper, so I managed to drop behind him again, even though I had to slow to 30 mph until he eventually passed, and I dialled 999 and spoke to the police giving them the car reg. After all, if it was a copper, I didn’t wanna get done for failing to stop. They confirmed that the car was NOT a police car and not to stop, so I carried on as they spoke to officers to inform them of the situation.
My turn off came and sure enough he followed even though I didn’t signal and exited at last minute. Approaching Bristol I came to traffic lights and he pulled alongside close to my car with his window down and gestured me to pull over, flashing a warrant badge at me. In no uncertain terms I informed said dodgy geezer that he could jog on if he thought I was going to stop as I was on the phone to the police control centre who informed me the car was not a police vehicle. Needless to say he didn’t hang around long, nor the other car which I hadn’t noticed before who seemed to be tagging along behind him, never saw him again after that.
For me it was not that big a deal, I clocked him early on. If this was someone more vulnerable and trusting, it could have got nasty. It was pretty obvious they were more interested in the car than anything else, but still.
So beware people and if ever in doubt, don’t stop, simply dial 999 and inform them you have been indicated to stop but you believe it may not be a real police vehicle. They will check on the spot if you provide them a reg. If it is a copper, you won’t get in trouble as long as you drive appropriately, as your call will be logged showing you were unsure if it was really police or not.

if you arent 100% sure dont even stop for marked police especially if carrying high value goods as its been known for criminals to now get cars all stickered up with lights and all(same for vosa)…Easy thing if unsure is keep driving and dial 999 operator will tell you if its a genuine police car or not…and carry a notice in A4 paper and hold it against your window saying "you wont stop but for them to follow you to a local police station …
and if it went to court which is unlikely cps will not pursue it any further…

Genuine independence would be nice rather than forever leaching off the English taxpayer. :stuck_out_tongue:

This used to occur in Portugal, the real traffic cops were out on the ■■■■,while their mates would borrow their uniforms and the traffic cars and stop the foreign trucks and make up false fines,i have heard of false weigh bridges, with the huge language barrier, the driver would not contest it,and may be too proud to tell his gaffer that he was being ripped off,and top up his running money when he returned to base.
A few went to jail,as neighbours became suspicious of how some bloke on low wages, gets a swimming pool, jewelry,a new car and holidays.
