Dodgy experience this morning

could the car not have been having some sort of problems ? what makes you think it actually had anything to do with you and your empty tank ?

The car could indeed have had mechanical problems but it is better to be safe than sorry. Terrorists will do anything to get their hands on toxic material so although it may seem a bit over the top I think he did the right thing.

Here’s a badge for you.

I hope this is useful.

ffs, to think some posters are mocking the drivers on the “worlds toughest truckers” tv show…

it was hardly an irish terrorist advertising he was irish
probaly a gippo looking for your derv

Cheers for the comments guys, even the negative ones, the vehicle may well have had mechanical problems but when it happened all the way from the M4 Reading services until just past the M11 junction on the M25 then it did seem pretty dodgy.

I was carrying Phosphorous Trichloride (dirty empty at the time so still plenty of toxic fumes inside) and we are advised to inform the police of any activity that may seem suspicious ASAP. The only vehicle I would stop for when carrying this product is a marked police car by the way!

With regards to the vehicle being on Irish plates, I may well of felt the same if it was a UK plated car but at the time it made the situation feel a little dodgier.

I dont feel any of my actions were an over-reaction, I would rather I stayed safe by the police being aware of what was happening, plus, just think of the poor children if a tank full of this fell into the wrong hands!

did this car at any time try to get you to stop ? did the people in the car try to get your attention or did they even try to look inconspicuous ?

Just curious to know how many of you have mistaken being cut up for high jacking? you all claim you wouldnt stop for anyone, utter ■■■■■■■■, human instinct/self preservation kicks in before your thinking brain. Thats why when idiot break tests you you brake. Dont care who you are. I’ve often said the next ■■■■ to do it i’m not breaking, yet i still do instinctively.
My point is it may well be a car, which in most cases is 43 times smaller, but if that said car pulls in front of you and brakes to a stop, you WILL stop. :unamused:

After just doing my ADR and learning about the risk of terrorist activity and dangerous good’s on lorrys I’d say you did the rite thing :exclamation: Could of been nothing but surly it’s better safe than sorry

You live in a totally different condition in the UK. Over here Hi Jacking means you will probably have a bullit through your head, they don’t just tell you to get out of your cab so they can b get in. It is therfore very wise to get the police involved asap (mind you most of those are payed to look the other way).

there are some very naive people on here.
he did the right thing.

Why is Phosphorus Trichloride of any interest to criminals?

Snudger:
Why is Phosphorus Trichloride of any interest to criminals?

Is that a genuine question? If so, try going off route with it and you will how the old bill respond to it

why  what is it

I’m pretty sure it’s a law now to have “Marked, unmarked” police cars.

seeing as how he asked you why not enlighten him and of why you get scared of passing cars on the motorway :unamused:

It is a toxic liquid when we carry it, not very fun stuff at all! Anything that requires me to to be chem suited up and masked up when offloading means it wouldnt end too well if in the wrong hands!
