Do you need a 'card' for hook lift/ roll on roll off bodies?

HI all. Just looking about regarding my options and just wondered do you need a card for this sort of thing? Can’t find anything specific on the interwebs so I’m currently thinking a bit of familiarisation is all that’s needed?

What sort of card do you mean■■? As there is no special requirements to drive a roll on roll off motor but if you go on some of the bigger more strict building sites they may require you to have a CSCS card or similar

Nope, just your normal HGV licence & a bit of training.

Other than digi/cpc card the answer is no. I’ve driven them for 11 years. Beats general and multi-drop any day.

THanks chaps. I was thinking maybe a card like you need for HIAB etc. but couldn’t find anything on the net myself… I do have a cscs card so that might help when it comes to delivering/ collecting stuff from building sites etc. Looking to approach a local firm which uses these trucks.

Tony, the ease of these things is what appeals to me as well.

Don’t get me wrong the job has it’s moments. Especially when it comes to driving off-road, in my case that comes in the form of a landfill site. However, if you can land a good employer with decent kit then you’re laughing mate. I did multi-drop for quite a while as well as some general but compared to RoRo work it’s pant’s.

Best of luck with it pal.
